This draw was a very good result for Jessie, as impressive as any of her results in this tournament, or indeed in her career. Her opponent was graded a full sixty BCF points ahead of her. Even allowing for an off-day against a rapidly improving junior, one would still have expected him to have gradually outplayed her, especially with the white pieces and against such an avant guarde opening as the Centre Counter Defence, which was then her mainstay against 1.e4.
