WOW My first show was in Buffalo 11/9/79 & I can hardly believe it's been 30 years Gratefully Dead.... Wished I coulda made this show to complete the circle. Thank Goddess we have the technology now to share it almost instantly. I remember it took 2 years to get copies of my first show on tape.... You kids don't know how good you have it... Sounds like it was a great time....
Thanks again to all the other tapers out there who are doing their best to bring us these shows with speed & integrity....

Subject: EYES...EYES...EYES!!!
Subject: EYES...EYES...EYES!!!
Caught the show and the highlight (by far) was EYES. This seemed (to me) to be the only song that blew me away.
PLAYIN' was so-so. RAMBLE was nice to hear.
Some times Phil looked he would rather be elsewhere and the lack of interest in his playing was noticeable. He didn't seem to take a lead role like he usually does.
Bobby seemed to take control whenever he could. So this was almost like a Ratdog show for me.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I went. Maybe I was just expecting a little more.
Nice work on varying the setlist.

Just finished listening to the show thought it was pretty good. Kicker for me was the "Eyes." Went to the 4/19 show in Worcester Had a great time, think that warren needs to let loose a little bit but other than that the band seems to be jellin right along. And on a side note I just want to thank the tapers for Sharing these recordings with us, VERY impressive job getting theses things uploaded so fast. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK FELLAS!

Let the haters say what they want - this IS the Dead.
If you're expecting fast paced bouncy Phish jams, go to a Phish show. If you want to dance frantically to the 'untz', go see Bisco.
This is the Dead doing what the Dead do best. Things get do darker, and at time slower, than any of the bouncy, bubbly, Jambands do today. And the jams are aging with the band.
Its 2009 and you're hearing 4 men pushing 70 years old play songs like 'Smokestack Lightning' like it was 1968 all over again. Sure, their fingers may not be as quick as they were back then - but anyone can attest who was at the HSBC Center that the magic is still there.
Highlights: Loser, Smokestack, Big River, PLAYING, Eyes.

This was my only show for the 09 Dead.
We had 9th row center and I took some killer pics throughout the night.
Most of the setlist was pretty great especially the 'Playin' and the 'Eyes'.
The core four sounded great and looked like they were having fun.
Bobby did a great job as always and sounded awesome.
Jeff was also stellar as always with some nice solos especially during 'Eyes'.
I really loved the Drums and it was pretty cool to get a Maggie's out of Space.
Thanks alot to the taper/uploader for this fine recording of such a fun night.

Subject: Worth the trip.
Drove 8+ hours one way from Cincinnati with my dad and uncle to see this show. Over 1,000 miles and it was worth every second of it. It was my first Dead show and I couldn't have asked for a better performance from the Boys!
First Set was jammin'. Great Promised opener. I especially liked the interplay between Warren and Jeff. TLEO was upbeat and good, but I was missin' Jerry. Mama Tried was good for 2009 "The Dead", which is what one must accept it as. I was stoked when I called out "Loser" during the opening notes. Very inspirational playing throughout, a good way to slow it down. Smokestack was a curveball but it was good, once again, for 09 Dead. Stella Blue was a perfect choice for Warren, great playing. Then to pick it back up and finish with a strong All Over Now and Big River made for a great first set. 8.7/10
Second Set, from the opening of Playing, I knew it was gonna be great. I love when they encompass entire sets between one song like this! Not a fan of Bobby McGee-Dead Version-but it flowed nicely out of the Playing. Loose Lucy, the crowd was loving, great sing along. Ramble On Rose reminded me of early 70s Dead. Drums and Space were captivating! Was it just me or did it seem like Jeff was playing along with Bill And Mickey at the beginning? Great playing from both drummers, even though I'm more of a Mickey fan. Space seemed like it was going on through the whole show with the good jamming that was coming from everyone. Maggie's Farm was a good choice out of Space. It seemed very threatening and tough, which was good. THEN EYES OF THE WORLD! How great. Easily my highlight. You must listen to fully appreciate it. Finally, when they made their way perfectly back in Playin, the boys really had it going. Encore, we all knew was gonnaa be Truckin'. Perfect way to end it.
Remember: If anything ever happens to me, I want my organs donated. (Gotta love Phil's Donor rap!)

Thanks Chris!!!
Been living on the posted recordings all tour - and this was the one show I was at. Thanks for the post - and quality is awesome.
The show was amazing - set list blew my mind!!!!!!
Want to chime in while the reviews are still positive - inevitably the "entitled to my opinion" whiners and naysayers will start piping in.
Internet Good: rapid sharing of some of the best live music available
Internet Bad: Opinions are like arse holes - everyone has one - but some just make odd noises and really stink!!!!
Flame away - I am nothing but grateful for this reunion and tour. The boys are bloody briliant!!!!

Subject: Playin'
holy jesus and mary (and probably joseph too)this Playin' is likely the best fucking version I HAVE EVER HEARD!!! is that blasphemous to say? I am obviously partial to Jerry because Im a deadicated head but honestly this IS an all-star lineup!!!! Billy and Mickey have gotten steadily better with no gap in progression and the new style "Drums" is really a fresh treat but I am still listening to this playin' cause its 17 minutes long which brings me to my next point....this band the so called Dead is truly alive this music sounds like Brents Keys in the late eighties with Jerrys guitar work from the late seventies and as well as Weirs excellent bits and pieces of rhythm that slide in so wonderfully but the real kicker is that Phil is playin' like its 1973-74 just listen to him work that masterpiece of art!!!!! damn what a badass Playin' and the intro was a great transition as well as the outro into me and bobby!!! wow...
5 stars just for the Playin'!!!!!!!
SERIOUSLY PLAY THE PLAYIN' NOW
i give you permission to not feel guilty cause you can always go back and listen to the first set second!
peace heads

Great job by the taper! This is a great show, Warren's Stella Blue is nice...The whole band is really gelling and sounding so much better than the free shows in NY. Looking forward to The Meadowlands & Philly, Could only make 2 shows this tour, been to more than 50 of the Grateful Dead, Haven't seen Bobby in like 10 years and haven't seen Billy since Jerry's passing, but it seems like the emotion is kicking in and every band member really shines. There is nothing like a Dead Concert!

Thanks for the fast posting Chris. Had a blast at this show, was my first since the '04 tour, hope they keep it coming for years to come. All things considered, the dead really pulled it together in my opinion. After the past few yrs of the members doing their own thing the core 4 shine when together, warren brings it too. The d/s is nuts, I always root to hear eyes live and they didn’t disappoint with this version.

yes its here!! real nice pull of this show. warren really shines on loser and eyes of the world. after listening to some of the auds from 2004 on here its noticable that this time around they are changing it up. i think its a good thing too, its nice to hear these songs with a fresh sound to them. i listen to boards from 65-95 everyday and while nothing can ever match the original Grateful Dead i find it refreshing to take a break from the old recordings and give a listen to something new. when going back to the old recordings i appreciate them more for jerry's presence alone.
