Subject: The Wolf Bros first show in Connecticut!
Subject: The Wolf Bros first show in Connecticut!
Really nice recording here, the only one we have on the archive of 3/2/19! Just a few shows into their Spring ‘19 tour, the trio was clearly good and warmed up. I like how the first set unfolds. Early Jerry, Blue Mountain, early Dylan, later-day GD. For me the show highlight is the magical Easy To Slip > He’s Gone! The first half of Playing in the Band is a little bland, but the second half is crunchy excellence. They almost smush it into a thick Let It Grow-style paste. Some wild guitar effects showcase Weir playing lead and rhythm guitar at the same time! The China Cat Sunflower is worth noting too. The vocal delivery is straight out of an eagle-winged palace, and they really carve up those instrumental jams. Brokedown Palace is a sweet and sleepy encore.
Even though there’s 17 songs here, in terms of time this is a pretty short show for the Wolf Bros. Songs like Touch of Grey and GDTRFB are played as quickly (if not quicker) as they were in a lot Grateful Dead shows! Still, the ballads are done with grace and patience. What a top-notch performance! I’ll definitely be revisiting this one. Thank you taper!

I was at this show at the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford CT Saturday March 2, 2019 (aka The Dome). It was a stellar concert. Bobby, Jay, and Don filled the room with rich and wonderful sounds. Really an amazing 3-piece band performance. Bobby is sounding great on both vocals and guitar. Jay adds nice backing vocals and a killer beat. The joy on Don's face as he place is contagious. You can see he is proud: proud to be there on stage and proud of Bobby as he plays his heart out. Thanks for uploading this fine recording.
