- Billy was absent all night, and understudy Jay Lane filled in
- Oteil joined Jay and Mickey on drums during Drums, and played bass with Mickey towards the end
- Recorded from OTS, rear of section Field-X, right around shortstop
- Earlier in the day, show-time weather forecast called for gusty winds, storms, rain, and hail, so I went with a smaller rig than usual. Turned out the weather was fine. Didn't see any rain until Sunday afternoon driving past Dayton OH.
- Both nights at Wrigley, the place was filled with chatterboxes. I love every one of you, but my goodness! I can think of 100 other places better-suited to chatting with your friends, and most of them do not cost hundreds of dollars to get in. There were times during the first set each night where I could not hear the band over the sound of people talking. I just can't understand that.
- 1x AKG393 hypercardioid (C); 1x AKG394 Figure-8 (L,R); 2x AKG392 omnis 1.5-foot spread (L,R) > Zoom F8 @ 44.1/16

Subject: Man.... The Talking! (and thanks for the tapes!!)
Subject: Man.... The Talking! (and thanks for the tapes!!)
Our MMJ shows in KY were canceled so we pivoted, got a Lyft to Chicago and got sick seats right behind pit. The talking by far was the worst we've ever experienced in 30 plus years going to shows and just sad actually to not be present like that. Friday night a guy was watching a baseball game on his phone constantly talking to his crew and wife. The wife who was so proud of her Dead tattoos and telling us she was a mega fan, been to all these shows but wasn't at all present to see her favorite band? We ejected to unsold seats way up and found some fellow noodlers :). Went to same area Saturday night but now the couple in front of us were seriously nonstop talking ("cocaine is a powerful drug" Rick James) to where we had to actually say something. Luckily we were able to move down and ran into new friends Richard and this epic 65+ yr old hippy dude that we just nodded and fist bumped and only talked to at intermission. Danced all night, met new friends, had the best time. People shut the fuck up at shows, be present in the moment, these experiences are few and far between for a lot of people and life is short for everyone. EXPERIENCE the Music while you can and stop talking. Haha, feel like a whining douche here but fuck why can't people think about others. OK byee and love the recordings man. Much appreciated.
