Eugene Amandus Schwarz (1844-1928) was an important figure in American entomology, especially in the work of the United States National Museum and the United States Department of Agriculture. His papers concern the taxonomy and biology of insects, especially the Coleoptera, and include correspondence and diaries of Schwarz for trips to Florida (1876, 1919), Cuba (1903-1904), Texas and Arizona (1898 and 1901-1902), Guatemala (1906), Panama (1911); diaries and detailed letters listing itineraries of Shannon; biographical information on Hubbard and Schwarz; and notes and miscellaneous publications.This field book concerns a trip to Panama, conducted in part with August Busck. The dates range from January 3 to March 27, 1911. Among the diary notes are inserted additional notes, correspondence, and booklets of the Panama Railroad Company: a timetable and coupons for commissary supplies from the Isthmian Commission
