There are two circulating versions of this show; the complete patched SBD (shnid 6481) plus the original AUD (shnid 6159) that was used for the patches. There is some master reel distortion that remains on the SBD, and also some cuts in the AUD master.
This version......
CDRs of the original SBD-only show (ie. pre-shnid 6481) were provided to me about 15 years ago by Michael Getz (of Tapers Compendium fame). Using Goldwave, I spent nights equalising many drop-outs in volume and tweaking the stereo balance, particularly on Lovelight (where Pig's and Weir's call & response vocals were out of whack). At that time, I had another cassette copy of the bulk of the show - a mono analog tape reportedly the audio recorded by the film crew (never seen it anywhere else, don't think I have it any more as 99% of my cassettes went when I switched to digital). I used this to patch the SBD cuts in Attics and St Stephen. Some time later, shnid 6481 started to circulate (with the cuts patched from the AUD). Rather than rework all my own editing, I just lifted the Intro > start of Casey Jones, and the closing show remarks, from shnid 6481 and patched them into my own version where they'd been missing.
So, the lineage of my version is something like......
MSR > CDR > PC > my edits in Goldwave > CDR > FLAC
- patched with unknown MR > cassette > PC
- further patched with shnid 6481
It was only ever intended for my own use so please take it as you find it. Not a major upgrade but, to my ears, an improved listening experience. Sadly, I couldn't do anything about the SBD distortion.
