Wow
After just listening to The Other One and Wharf Rat my mind is blown - what a psychedelic melt down. Classic primal Dead at its finest!

What a night...
I went and sipped from the cup, too (which was a double whammy because I had eaten some peyote and had a dry mouth when the cup was handed to me.) Thanks to Charlie for this awesome remaster. Phil is ridiculous on "The Other One"...primal Dead, for sure. That bass is thunderous.
Things were OK til the show ended and people were faced with getting home in a condition they might not have bargained for. It was a wild night...
Too bad the 1st set is not available in this quality. Though there is confusion about the set list, I seem to recall a particularly lysergic "Loser" with Jerry killing the solo. The Queen of Diamonds was shining that night.
Thanks again, Charlie.

you are all wrong on the set list
Dead Set and other tape listers: The two shows played this weekend at Winterland have had their set lists confused on both fronts. The first set of this show began with BERTHA, not Casey Jones, which was played the 2nd night. The Rub and Playing In the Band were also from the FIRST of these two shows. I'll tell ya, I was there, and even on two sips of the Electric Punch, my memory is vivid. how could it not be? This was my first show! Its at s wrong also. This show is actually FRIDAY 5-28, and the second night was made up on SUNDAY 5-30- Jerry was sick so did NOT sit in with New Riders this night -it was only the 4 others playing, and it was CANCELED on Saturday night due to the sickness, made up Sunday.

This is the only soundboard available for this show, or for the month of May 71'?

Excellent Transfer of a Good Show
You can tell there was something trippy in the air that night. Charlie Miller's transfer does this show almost more justice than it deserves.
It sounds like Phil, Jerry, Pig, Bob, & Billy are playing in my living room. Phil is WAY high in the mix, as previously mentioned. We all love it!
Highlights include a primal version of Other 1 (what 71'-72' versions wasn't?!) and some really nice energy on NFA>GDTRFB>NFA segment.
This is the only soundboard available for this show, or for the month of May 71' for that matter. (only the two Winterland shows were performed in May).
If a bunch of people ate bad L at this show, at least they enjoyed the ride!
5 for transfer
4 for performance (just too many great shows from April & then later on this year to give it a 5)
ROUND OFF to a solid 5! Thanks CM!

Critical upgrade
Thick, Phil-heavy sound. Partial show only, but this is core 71 material. I'm going to enjoy the hell out of this.
