For a real good time
I have a lot of anticipation building up for the Second Set
Promised- I had to check but this tune premiered in April 1971
another Chuck Berry tune that I believe just got better with time.
Pretty versatile but seemed to work best as
1st set opener(Promised>Sugaree)
1st set closer (where I tended to catch it in the 80's)
2nd set opener (this night)
Loose Lucy-wow! that kicks butt, playing to Donna's cowgirl side
Me & My Uncle-this song is Bobby's staple if you go back to 1966
this was the first tune that Weir really nailed and made his own.
Don't Ease-all of sudden they are playing this every night!!!
If you ever got this as a first set closer I always felt I was in danger of dancin' out of my clothes..
Race is on- Jerry all in on the backing vocals
good tune for Donna as well
Stella Blue-Solid Garcia ballad will eventually find it's home
in the Last Ballad of the night slot.
As far as I can tell only Jerry on the vocals
there are no backing vocals yet
no big emphasis on the "Make em Shine"
good placement, a super reflective tune
Big River-deserved to be in the Second Set during this period.
Half Step-we are moving into the heart of the show at rapid speed
To get this tune listen to a bunch of Robert Hunter
or read his lyrics if you prefer
anyway this song is just perfectly put together
I would dig it even if it never went across the Rio Grande
but when we go across the lazy river
reminds me of when I was singing a lullaby to my boy
so many years ago and i knew he had fallen asleep
but I sing just a few more to him in dream land.
WR Prelude>DARK STAR>EYES>DAYBREAK on the LAND.
"73 top highlight" says Captain Obvious
Hope that gets you to fill that pipe and smoke it.
E)Johnny B Goode

Wow!
Re: Dark Star~ What on earth was Jerry and the boys smoking" er, maybe what tab did they swallow? Must've been some fresh Owsleyacid! Yikes! When there is a Dark Star longer than say 20 minutes you know you're in for it! hang in there. The effects fade after about a day or so, maybe longer!

73 Dead
With out a doubt one of the most impressive sections I've ever heard. This coming from someone who for 73-74 is a great, but enjoyable bane in my life. Quality exquisite WRS prelude

Seriously ?
1 star ? Really ? All because you don't know how to download it ? See, you THINK it's only stream but your wrong ! No track listing, waaaaa !
To me, a one star recording is when someone records it from the lobby, and occasionally the door opens and you can hear some faint music. Waaaaa I'm an idiot and don't know how to give any show more than one star, except bands that suck !
