Subject: Syracuse...on a Monday
We pulled into town at noon...no circus nobody around except US. bought a ticket at the box office and while waiting in the lobby with the cops, they asked if I was going to be stage security. well yes.
So I picked another 4 guys...and we went in for duty.
Grate relaxed show and Everyone was being social except for Keith ...Jerry was hangin with Barbara Meier...Bill had all the girls...Keith fell out of the bathroom.
I got in trouble for being a person with a camera...from JG.
The beautiful harmony and band inspiring Horns were pretty good flavor, for the late summer show. Miss half step ...I can go back there anytime in my memory. When Jerry finished the re-entry to Stella Blue I woke up from my dream to look up and see him staring down through me. I said to myself... well Jerry just stole my life.
We ended up on Campus of Syracuse U that night listening to a tape of Weir and NRPS doing sawmill etc...Seasons of my Heart.

I am Not the first to mention this:
Fenario 80 back in 2010
"Check out Looks Like Rain with Keith on Theremin,
I kid you not!"
Absolutely the most stunning LLR. which is not even a song I pay much attention to except maybe when it raises my ire by stumbling into the 2nd set in the later years. But this fellow heads is a beauty. Keith has that Theremin right where Donna would normally sing her backing vocals. It is seriously stunning.
This is a nice 1st set , even with nicks, cuts , and some level issues during Loser, anything soundboard 73 worth its weight in gold- this is no exception.
This version of Loose Lucy is down and dirty followed by a rare YOU AIN'T WOMAN ENOUGH which shines as Donna kicks any competition for Keith to the curb.
El Paso ready to atone for the previous sloppy Jack Straw in which they dropped the lyrics in several places. Close Set 1 with Casey Jones any day!
The Second Set list is pretty similar to the previous show. With the brass they probably wanted to play tunes those guys could get familiar with.
If you are not into Sun Ra type jazz the 'horns' might be tough on your psyche but personally I think it gives a little hook and zip that i am sure the band had to enjoy.
This night the jam at the end of Eyes of the World is pretty fierce indeed.
The first line to start Sugar Magnolia that Jerry sings might have had more to do with Weir missing an intro
Hey, I will take this over Ned and Seastones any day but everybody got a right to speak their mind.
I believe that Onondaga is in upstate N.Y. named after a Native American tribe.

Recording's a bit diced & sliced, missing a few beginnings of songs. Some scorchers in the first set, also some losers. The singing is kind of atrocious tonight, from everybody, not just Mrs G, but Garcia's playing like the Evil Kineval of guitar. In the second set, when the horns come out, it's pure bliss. This tour really raised the band's bar, in my opinion, & set the stage for the Grateful Dead that was to come in my time ('87 on) more than any other string of shows.

WRS has some amazing leads from Jerry, which are ultimately ruined by the sounds of a goose being slaughtered.

An already good show made better with the addition of some free-ish skronk from a great little horn section!

Let's face it, the Dead played nary a bad note in '73 and this show is no exception. What distinguishes this performance is the horns. The run from Truckin' through to Stella is just gorgeous. I just love the hint of r 'n b that the horns add to Truckin'.

WOW rare sunday off blogging and streaming random shows and I stumbled on this one.Heard some cuts from this show years ago but nothing like this sound quality!Coolest LLR ever heard marvelous Row Jimmy and the Weather Report kicks ass! Strange yet fun version of Truckin ,of course Bobby screwing up the lyrics keeps it somewhat familar. THANKS TO ALL RESPONSIBLE ! STARS!

It's so nice to hear Martin stretch out during a Classic 1973 GD show. If you listen to any of the great horn players from the nola, bay area or ny funk scene, his sound is embedded into all of it.
great sound quality too; nice work - keep it coming!
