Jerry's soundcheck warmup here is so pleasant to listen to, I had to listen twice. There is a Stanley Jordan-esque element to Jerry's playing here that really shines through.

What a great find. Have listened to 9.18.74 many times, but never heard the sound check until now. Too bad the Cumberland recording only got the last minute, but the Jerry solo is sublime.
Btw, to the reviewer that was confused by Cliff Hucker's review: that was probably sarcasm. It seems he, like I, end up spending many hours poring over Dead recordings, way more than we'd like to admit!

That someone can go from nothing to a mellow mood jam in 8 minutes is pretty good proof to me that there is a GOD.
Anyway find the little jam to be Beautiful!

Stumbled across this little nugget that never made it onto any of my old cassettes and wasn't on that old "Uncle John's Band" bootleg.
Good stuff. Jerry's solo guitar soundcheck has some beautiful and strange moments. Languid love scenes.
The Brokedown Palace here is truly something to behold. This is a soundcheck??! The instrumental break is a little loose but otherwise this sounds as deeply felt (and then some) as any version they've ever perfromed.

Cliff?
I too, am a bit confused by Cliff's Huckers review. Usually his review are pretty clear and informative, but he lost me here

Cliff has been a great an incredible source of recommendations for shows from 66-77. I include this one as a prime example of a show i would have never found without Cliff. However i would checkout the entire show thats starts with a jamming UJB (no joke) and has a lovely Peggy-O and a wonderful Eyes.
C'est Magnifique!!!

A form of mental illness?
I took 8+ minutes out of my life and listened to Jer run through the scales here, and it dawned on me...
It's a sickness!
