Jam instead of Black Peter? YESSSSS!!!!!!
Dang, I sure wish that they'd have played jams post-NFA like Track 3 live, instead of always dropping into Black Peter. Of the 8 shows I saw from 1978 thru Sept 79, I saw Black Peter 5 out of 8 shows. I was starting to wonder if I did something wrong (guess I did lol).

Never fade away
For all the good years that Keith had with the band- the Dead were ready by 79 to have someone with some fire in the belly join the band.
It took Brent some time to move from spicing up the rhythm section to being a front man but if you were fortunate enough to see Brent perform in 89-90 with the DEAD you saw a formerly background keyboard player take center stage and rally the Dead to some amazing heights.
I know some of his tunes don't hold up very well today kinda the way Bob's Throwing Stones seems somewhat dated to me today- but Brent had a lot of soul.
He really won me over because when I first started going to shows in 84 I used to call him 'the slasher' or 'animal' from the Muppets.
But by 89-90 I felt like the whole band was fired up by his contribution to the band.
Spring 90 tour was probably some of the better music I heard from the band in the entire Brent era.
As far as this recording goes I think Brent being able to navigate track # 3 pretty much assured he would no longer need his day job.

cool
Not bad...but it kind of sounds like they're playing in either a small hallway or a large closet lol.
I like when Jerry explains the Scarlet lyrics to Brent...worth a listen.

tasty rehearsal tape
The jam out of NFA is cool. Excellent drumming here, and the mix is nice too. I want to download this!
