Right off the bat, you immediately notice ol' Jer butchering Half Step vocally. Yikes! It's a real bummer since I love Half Step sooo much. But I wasn't going to give up on this baby with HS > Franklin's > Stranger looking totally delish. And it IS boys and girls! It's just blistering right into Franklin's Tower with a hot Tower! Barry's typical primo locations and equipment make his audios so scrumptious, I was sure I could do something with it?
This "sweet spot" recording left a lot of room for reverb experimenting to soften Jerry's singing. I started with a modicum of sustain to see where things would end up and found the crispness and definition of Barry's recording to be so good, I hit the Soundforge board with a heavy dose. And to my surprise, the show held together with not too much boom - and Jerry sounds much, much better. It's really amazing what you can do to a sweet FOB recording!
The first half of the second set is a scorcher too! But I desperately wanted to keep the opening. And I'm satisfied with the results. But be forewarned. The patent pending Garcia Cringe-O-Meter is bouncing around all over the place tonight.

The Missisippi/franklins is truely excellent and is all there - this must be the source that was fixed! What a great combo for an opener!
I love the rest of the show too - great jaming playing. Pretty good Aud recording to boot!
