possible cut in Wheel ?
Hello,
It sounds to me like there is a cut in The Wheel on this recording at the
00:30 second mark. There is about 6 seconds missing.
Also, many thanks to all those who provide these recordings and to those who clean them up and edit them.

Summer '84
This is a real solid set, beautiful theater. I saw this show and Blossom '85 which was amazing. I caught Harrisburg through Indy of this tour and they were rea good shows, especially Merriweather 6/27 and Saratoga 6/24. Check this one out, and the rest of the tour. Indy 6/30 and the two Alpine shows are real hot as well. This was a hot tour that started the momentum that got stronger through their 20th anniversary in '85 and peaked at Oakland Feb 1986.
Tanman - good breakdown of Dear Mr. Fantasy. There is Internet mythology and reality. Brent did a good job on Fantasy but those of us there remember it started as a Garcia tune.
scarletgrey - this is the only performance of the combo. At Starlight in KC 7/3 and the Greek 7/13 they did Scarlet>>Touch>>Fire, the latter having a phenomenal jam. And of course the Dark Start encore with slideshow. They started all this with a Scarlet>>Touch at Red Rocks in June.

in reply to 'stratocaster'
Negative . In 1984 when they started playing Dear Mr Fantasy Garcia sang 'lead.' Brent starting singing more of it late 85/86 Id have to review but it DEFINITley started with Garcia singing 'lead' the best version' ie 2 great garcia guitar breaks, garcia singing 'lead' then duo with Brent at alpine '84 a week + later. In this version where you note they lapse garcia ends up with a mediocre guitar
break.then brent does pick up the verse until the 2nd guitar break where Garcia shines. listen to alpine 84, Maine10/84, springfield spring 85 for the 'Garcia' versions of Fantasy.Note the later versions with Brent taking over have only one guitar break

Different strokes
I actually find this to be one of the better performances of the summer '84 tour. Check out the first set from one of the other recordings. Very high energy with the band clearly enjoying themselves.

nice sound, performance not so much
nice sounding recording. The show itself varies in it's mediocrity, from downright terrible to listenable...probably best that this is only the second set. The 2nd Mr. Fantasy is brutal, curiously Garcia starts off the first line, and is way off key (Brent usually sings lead on this...)...the song falls apart as they have no clue what the chord progression or arrangement should be...fortunately some good shows are right around the corner...06-30-84 puts this show quickly in the rear view mirror...too bad we can't rate half stars...the quality of the source carries the three stars

After reading the reviews on the other recordings kinda bugs me to think we rag on each other here.
Yes this one is the one to get as far as sound goes. But lets take into consideration this is the 1st time the boys played this venue. So when we complain about peoples hard work getting a copy of the show up on here we should be grateful to Begin with.
As far as this one goes its on the money. That's probably due to who put this one up here for our pleasure to recapture the moments in time we all shared . I happen to have Ben very excited at this show because I always loved new venues and the fact that we were all together enjoying the music we soooooooo loved. Love the sound here
