Thanks Alex for doing the transfer for me. I haven’t listened to this recording in a long time. I can remember this entire day like it was yesterday. The boys came out and rolled up their sleeves this beautiful Saturday afternoon and went to work fast and furious. My brother and I set up almost too close to the stage, during the set break we were hassled by a crew member who said he was sent out to make us leave out spots and retreat to the tapers section. We eventually shook him off and that’s why we had a slight cut on the intro to Scarlet opener. There’s nothing like a Frost show!

Ahhhhhhh Frost Ampitheater. One the campus of the Farm, looking West towards the rugged redwood Santa Cruz Mountains (and towards the direction of Ken Kesey's La Honda Creek Pad), this intimate grassy tree lined bowl was the perfect setting to see The Boys. Sunny Springtime shirtless gyrations amidst Heavenly Jerry Tingles, this show exudes 80s tingle dancing surfer smiles while getting totally tubed by six Sublime Musical Artisans laying down the Golden Carpet.
My Brother Esau could be one their greatest vintages of that label ...ever. So clean, moist and tight, with the special jerry orgasm solo, almost wanting more jizz, but he finishes quick.
Ramble On Rose with it's vocal crescendo shivers, and a spiral powder line during Scarlet inspires Tom Curren'esque power and flow sprays against an indigo sky.
Oh, and watch out for those laughing gas groves in the Eucalyptus forest outside the annual Mellow Head Frost BBQ; you might end up stepping into another tab of Owsley Bear Vision Quest (Psssssssssssss...)

I would have loved to be at this show. I never did see any Frost shows, and I heard it was a great place. The energy of the crowd, the day & the band sounds very high.
Many of the 80's shows before my time ('87 on) sound kinda cranked up, with some songs played a bit too fast for my taste. That's true with this show, but not too much. The playing is fantastic--near perfect--and the set list is long and great. They really packed a lot in, and I've never heard a Scarlet>Eyes before.
The recording requires very little EQing, though the vocals are very tinny and that's hard to rectify.
Not one of my absolute faves, but definitely a keeper!
