Notes
This was recorded "Off The Air". Different mix than shnid 106021
Fade out on Brown Eyed Women due to tape flip
Last few seconds of Terrapin Station faded out due to tape flip
Drums, Space and 0:00 -0:58 of Truckin' pulled from shnid 106021 for
continuity. I didn't record that section for reasons I don't remember
No FM broadcast listed on db.etree till now. Available SBD sources listed
as "Pre FM"
A crackle or pop here and there, but overall this is a very nice recording
25 years to transfer? I'm a little slow. JackStraw66, May 21, 2011. Enjoy.

Subject: New Year's Eve UnderEstimated
Another complaint I remember at the time was that the boys did not do a 3rd set.
But what I notice when I listen to this (again after 26 years) was the same thing I noticed when taping it back then: the electricity between the crowd and the boys.
Set one is solid with a NFA opener (even when commentator says..."sounds like nfa to me."). The segue into touch was awesome b/c while the boys had been playing touch for some time, it was not "burned out". The rest of the set is above average. Nothing really out of the ordinairy - but solid play, just as they had done at most of their shows in '85.
The midnight hour>Sugaree really was awesome. It is easy in retrospect to look back and wonder "why not break out St. Stephen or Dark Star? But the thing is the boys had revived many tunes in '85 including crazy fingers, cryptical big boy pete, big boss man, kansas city, baby what you want me to do. I know that is not an exhaustive list.
The playing is stellar after that women>ship>playin>terrapintruckin>blackpeter>throwinstones>nfa>nfa reprise> lovelight//brokedown.
Very solid show and one that I think deserves more credit than some are giving it.
God Bless and Enjoy!
