a drummer to be
One of these shows was broadcast on the radio and until the archive it was the only recording I had of a show I was at. My wife would give birth to our first son three weeks later so we sat in the balcony off to the side so she had plenty of room and we could bail easily if needed. Oddly enough the sound wasn't bad and we had a great side view of the stage. This show was the best audience shows I was ever at. Chicago was well primed because of the radio advertising for the broadcast. Desolation Row just knocked the place into a different plane and from there on the audience and the band fed off each. This was my last show in Chicago since we moved to San Francisco the next spring. The next time I saw them was in Golden Gate Park at the Airplane reunion.
