before I reached the ground..
Good representation of 1987.
Set one-Dig the seldom explored cowboy pairing.
and varied tune selection
with both a Brent & Phil song.
Set two-China Doll just steals the show!
a little predictable after drumz
when searchin' for the sound
a good rule of thumb
don't go entirely by the set list

intimate show
Brokedown, crazy, china doll feel so great in a small open air day-time college space. While a lot of fast major key or 3-chord thunders in a bigger and/or closed space.

The Engine Firing Perfectly!
This show is one of the strongest 80's era performances ever. Obviously, I love all era's of the Dead, but for a few years in the 80's they sounded so perfectly rich and creamy. The Crazy Fingers, despite Jerry's minor lyrical lapse(hahaha), is one of the best Crazy Fingers EVER! Garcia's voice sounds so warm and emotional that it brings a tear to my eye every time I hear this particular Crazy Fingers. The China Doll is absolutely gorgeous as well. Hell, who am I kidding, this is the perfect example of why I fell in love with this band, stayed in love with this band, and will love their music until the day I die.
