Nice recording, I have this show on tape but the tape is very muddy so it's nice to get a good AUD here.

Subject: My 1st Show
Subject: My 1st Show
Camping out in Chief Hosa campground meeting up with friends just before the 1st set close to stage center in glorious Red Rocks. Liftoff with Cold, Rain & Snow. This show was to launch my journey on the bus. I have visions not entirely certain if they were lysergically derived or not of a fellow deadhead free climbing on the rocks during the show. The rest of the show fades between memory and dream with flashes of certain songs clearly defined: Bob singin Little Red Rooster into Brent's Tons of Steel I started peaking at High Time and after that things get fuzzy. It was a great night and a culmination of a great deal of effort to begin my journey with the Dead. I wish I could find the other 2 shows that complete this 3 day run which then moved to 2 days in Telluride. Grateful memories! Thanks for uploading!!

Thanx Tony! I have downloaded some of your recordings and this is best so far. Everything is clean, minimal audience sounds, though at Rond/Round it loses a touch of life. I'm glad you were there, I have been looking for these shows since they happened and could only find a set or two which I don't even have.
My girlfriend and I (wife now) drove from FL on our move to CA. We planned to see these shows and hook up with friends in CO. A couple of breakdowns along the way and after 4 days on the road we made the show with less than an hour to go. Unfortunately I had an extra for a friend we could not locate. No cell phones. Bill Walton drove by us near an entrance area and we said hello through the window. Made someone real happy with the last minute extra, dosed and went in. Had to sit up high but what an incredible perspective. I remember little of the show except tripping balls, a bright full moon, and storms over Denver in the distant, thought the moon and storms might be an LSD memory. Left the show got horribly lost in Morrison trying to find our motel, asking directions at a convienient store, but really not comprehending much of anything. Tried to sleep on a crowded room floor and kept feeling my life leaving my body and would have to jerk my body up to keep from dying. I knew this was going to be the last time for doses. 75 trips including most of my early-mid 80's shows. Oh well, I got a lot out of it. I did manage to take a little corner at my 1st Phish show in '96 and had a real nice time without going way out. Since then nothing.
I would probably get this show just for the setlist. You can't go wrong with a Cold Rain opener. And then there is High Time, Let It Grow, a rare Crazy Fingers set opener, Playing into China Doll. Ship of Fools is real good as is the encore, with Jerry saying the goodnight. How sweet! I am also a big fan of Tons of Steel and Masterpiece. However, none of the tunes are really exemplary versions, just real solid renditions that should be a good listen. I like the real quiet transition from GDTRFB into Round/Round.
I look forward to listening to the next two nights. Peace
