Notes
* Live FarmAid broadcast: "If you've been watching TV today, then nobody has to tell you how bad it is for farmers. You could do something: Give your money or support. Call 1-800-FARM AID." 1st without Dylan.
Notes:
Maggie's Farm on FarmAid Broadcast. Highly praised show. High energy typical of Madison Square Garden Shows. Lots of great audience action, esp. during the second set, which sounds better (maybe some deck tape-type setting issue?) like the clapping at 12:40 in Uncle John's, and the audience perhaps even driving them faster at 17:19. Perhaps a "best of" High Time, very precise, in general excellent low-end, praise for Jerry's Black Peter solo.
Playing Jam: "This may be the most fluid jam emanating from a song's construct so far in 1987." -- jboyaquar, archive.org.
Maggie's Farm! Live FarmAid broadcast made timing a bit odd but who cares. "If you've been watching TV today, then nobody has to tell you how bad it is for farmers. You could do something: Give your money or support. Call 1-800-FARM AID." - Bob

Subject: Pretty decent audience, fine show
As to the show, this contains the best single jam I ever heard going to shows. That's more a comment on my show selection than on the way they were playing (obviously, there are all the Dark Stars from 1989-90 and even 91 that blow this away), but yeah, the Playin' is fantastic on this night. Somewhere around the 8:40 mark you'll hear a sound like a bubbler, adding some extra textural color to the sonorities. That's Mickey beginning to warm up the Beam, as he goes wild with it later, getting some very strange sounds out of that thing. Where the cutoff is between Playin' and Drums is very subjective, as the other musicians stay on stage playing during the first part of the percussion, and it's never really a typical drum duet.
The rest of the show is pretty average, though it was fun to hear Maggie's Farm in that slot (introduced by Bob's Farm Aid plug; note, Bob Dylan also was a strong promoter of Farm Aid, giving it a mention during his Live Aid (concert for Ethiopia) performance). It's a strong version as well, second-set worthy. Black Peter even generates far more energy than normal. Crazy Fingers is an odd way to start the 2nd set, on a mellow note, and Jerry gets a little off key in his solo but brings it back smoothly so you'd think it was all planned. Uncle John's is a strong performance and long for 87. The first set starts out well but then sags, other than Box of Rain.
