At the top of the reviews on another copy, one says, "horrible Dark Star." No way in the world!! This was an excellent Dark Star. It had super sweetness in the beginning, a wild middle section more due to Brent than to Jerry's midi effects, and a sweet trail-off into Drums. The whole show is outstanding, one of the top few shows of the entirety of 78-95, maybe the best show since 1-22-78. Check out especially Feel Like a Stranger, Tennessee Jed, and The Music Never Stopped for sheer intensity. Not to mention Watchtower>Fantasy.
About Jerry's guitar -- it's really hard to tell from the You Tube video, which is dark and doesn't have a closeup of the guitar where you can see the inlay, but it looks like he's playing Rosebud. Videos of other shows from spring and summer '90, including 7-21, clearly show him playing Rosebud. 7-23 is the only 1990 show I could find when he played Wolf, although he played it almost exclusively during the fall 1989 when he was first experimenting with MIDI. Rosebud was Jerry's best instrument, IMO, he got every sound out of it that he got with Tiger plus the MIDI. Listening to the early part of Dark Star, I thought I was hearing Tiger, it's so deliciously sweet and rich.
