Rode up on a bus to Cleveland, where my late brother was living. Stayed with him and his girlfriend at the time. The snow arrived overnight, yet we went out for a few errands and drove back in full whiteout conditions and were prepared to go to the show when my brother's GF decided to call the venue to make sure the show was happening. It wasn't, of course. So I don't have the horror story that some had; we had heat, food, power, running water, everything, and we made it to the show the next night in frigid conditions.
Can't say much for the show itself, it sucked, actually. Only the Terrapin and Stella really floated my boat, along with maybe the jam in Eternity. It's a very blase song-selection. Gotta admit, until just today, I thought the Brown-Eyed Women lyric was, "Sun so hot that the roof caved in." "Snowed so hard," makes more sense, and so of course they chose that one for this show.

Wow. What a moment in my life. My mom chased the astrovan that picked me up to go to Richfield (on foot) screaming "there isn't going to be a God damn show!" We LOVED Richfield coliseum and we were sure they wouldn't cancel ๐
We were the last vehicle left to get on the interstate. Cars appeared to be lifting of the ground and gilding away. Mad props to Merle for getting us there safely. We finally arrived to a cancelled show because there was no electricity. We had tickets for the first night, but not for the 2nd. It's my belief We had about 15 people in a rented chalet for the duration. I remember being in a hot tub indoors....then being kicked out!!! Like had to leave immediately. I was in wet shorts and a tshirt as we were chased to our ASTROVAN and the snow came up to my knees! Not sure how, but we managed to score a motel room, had some heady trades, and made it in this show. The beginning of cr&snow is forever in my soul โฅ๏ธ
What a moment. Thanks charlie... thanks merle...thanks jerry... and GD, and thanks MOM for forgiving me :)

I remember this show well.
We drove in early on Saturday and were settled in at the Holiday Inn across the street before the storm really hit.
We were disappointed that they cancelled the show on Saturday night but had a blast hanging out at the hotel.
The show on Sunday night was great !
Good mix of old and new songs and some fun covers.

I feel so lucky to have gotten seats to this show after being closed out of the previous night, which was cancelled due to the snowstorm. I bet my friend that they would open with CR&S because of it. Who knows if that was the exact reason they did, but you could tell the band was committed to putting on an A-1 performance due to the circumstances. A local radio station also broadcast it live as a concession to the fans who missed out. Jerry's vocal on "Touch of Grey" was among the strongest I ever heard, almost like thanking the heavens, while proclaiming "I will Survive!"

So hard to say... Thank you Jerry for this show. I can't put into words my projection, the deep is an abyss, I know what i missed! Thank you for the strength of this show, you were there, as you would say, an old man. I miss you so much.I wasn't there post Touch but my soul saw you from day one. You put a lot into this show, and did it ever breach the gap? Yes it did I am here to testify.
This man was special, yes we know but much to his chagrin he was Holy.

Holiday Inn lobby was insane. Workers came out got us from our snowed in ride, in the parking lot. Then let all of us sleep in the lobby. Drum circle and shakedown right in the lobby. The dead awarded Holiday Inn with a plaque for there kind services. Outstanding show the vibe was nice and warm.

it was incredible, there wasn't anything management could do. People were crashing in their sleeping bags right next to the indoor pool/dome area. Everything went on, drum circle, typical people trading everything. I think I bought a jagermeister water bong at that place. We ended up there as well, no place to go and to this day in my memory, the worst snow storm ever. "storm of the century" It started third night in chicago and driving over to richfield from there was hell, with huge time snow drifting over the roads in the open field areas. White out conditions almost the whole way. The Holidome was the place to be that weekend. Man was that fun. this was the first I fought the law, it seemed cool at the time. The band had fun with it, and after a canceled show, the law had won and everyone had to wait. I remember thinking this show kinda sucked up until terrapin out of nowhere, completely made it worth the price of admission, and again i was in the place on earth that I would always rather be. Afterward was psychadelic despite the standard set list. the terrapin and jam were awesome as was the jam into terrapin out of corinna.

The scene at the Holiday Inn I believe was really crazy, it was the one right off the Akron exit. If my memory is correct this was supposed to be a two day show but the snow caused the first night to be cancelled. I think this was the blizzard of 93 for us ohioans. Up to 3 feet of snow. I remember it took 7 hours to get from Marietta Oh to Akron because we were driving in bad snow. We got to the hotel just as they closed all the roads. When we got to the hotel we already had a room, thank God. There were so many stranded people there. We had like 10 people in our room. The hotel smelled really funky too :). People were all over the hotel and I think the management was like oh well because the roads were closed and no one had anywhere to go. The first night was cancelled and luckily I had tickets to the 2nd night but a lot of people were bummin. I remember the day of the show we met this poor guy whose car broke down on the highway. We tried really hard to help him fix his car in the snow and freezing cold. You know, do anything to help a brother. We had to push his car with ours off of the highway and left it in town, it was a blue volkswagon. The guy really appreciated us trying to help and he turned us on to a really good time. Thanks man. We made it to the show just in time to hang out in the parking lot for about an hour then it was concert time. I think they were having sound issues or our seats were so high up. The concert sounded muffled. I dont remember much past that except the lights and people everywhere. I hope that poor guy made it home alright. A shout out to all my frinds from then...Mikey, Joe, Ashu, and the poor guy with the broke down car. Miss you guys. Show was average and I remember a lot of people complaining about it. I had a good time. The Dead are people to and they must have been having an off night, it happens. I still love them for what they do and showing me the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.
