This was my 2nd Grateful Dead show now 17 years ago. I remember that HARD RAIN fallin and making that slope slippery. I remember seeing this girl in the middle of 2nd second, shivering cold and looking like she needed a blanket. Offered her one and she shook her head and walked away. Good Show though.

Honestly set 1 takes a long time to get going. Garcia is a ghost of himself for most of it, mumbling words, barely playing, until the end when he finally kicks in.
Yes, set 2 is great.
But, boy, weird how no one mentions the rough bulk of the first set.

I'm from Ohio, and have seen the Grapefruit heads all over the country, but I have to say that Buckeye Lake is a terrible venue. Waaaay too crowded, inadequate facilities, and you have to stand on a slope that goes from left to right if you are facing the stage. On the plus side, Hornsby was a great addition to the band once Brent left us.

My last time before Jerry left us, and my ex's first Dead show ever -- so of course they played her favorite, 'Althea'. The following night, my brother and uncle saw them for their first times, up in Detroit.
The thunder! And Bill and Mickey answering it! A wild, wet and wonderful night, with a setlist inspired by the weather. The 'Standing on the Moon' at this show is my favorite version.
Lots of stuff that for one reason or another, I'd never caught at a show before -- more than half the show.
All in all, I can't think of a better way to spend a late July evening.

Anyone remember how HARD it rained like 3 minutes before they took the stage!?! I swear to God, I've never seen a darker, blacker, more ominous cloud in my life. And man-o-man did we get drenched! Almost like Pittsburgh '95.
I gotta give 'er 5 just for the memories. Plus this and The Palace were the best shows of the Summer tour IMO.

In my opinion this is the best recording of this show posted here... The flow is kept as consistent as possible and (at first thorough listening) I have yet to notice anything glaringly missing. I appreciate the crowd/tunings. Thanks for the spectacular revisit of this memorable show!
