Five stars but...
Tracks 8 through 12 inclusive should be ONE track. That way we can hear it like they played it!
That's one way our old cassettes or reels, or even bootleg vinyls, whether SB or audience, are superior to this site.

Essential - 35 min Good Lovin ****
Well oiled machine - Everything on this is great and this is an unmistakable 5, disreagrd the souund this is chock full of haymakers too numerous to count. Morning Dew is Winterland caliber and certainly one of the best of the year.

The Dead Plays the Blues
First, the mix is bad, vocals are too high and the instruments are hard to hear, this enhances the perception that this show was at a lower energy level. Cranking up the high end on the equalizer helps. The band seemed to be in a slower blues mode, and either couldn't quite get things going or they were trying to restrain the jams. There are some nuggets here. The blues numbers, "It Hurts Me Too" and "Smokestack Lightning" are very good. In this show, a softer gentler "Other One" takes on a etherial quality. Finally, this version of "Good Lovin" is fun to listen to, it doesn't rock, it just kind of bounces along in a way only the Grateful Dead could do. It's worth the download.
