Notes:I originally transferred my Dat back in 2000. At that time, I only made Audio
discs. Someone asked me to circulate this source since the circulating source has NR applied to it. My source DOES NOT have any NR applied to it. I made these FLAC's off of my Master Audio Discs. Enjoy...cm

Subject: First hints of Slipknot?
Subject: Now we play for LIFE
This recording has just enough audience that the ongoing almost endless dialogue between the band and the heads is very well documented. And it mainly centers around requests, This has a life all its own. One Sister calls for China Cat several times and when they finally play it you can tell it is like she won the lottery.
Also the St. Stephen banter is interesting. Phil steps up and flatly says, 'We don't play that one anymore'. Too which Weir ever the anti-antagonist adds , 'yeah, you guys liked that one too much'
Anyway, some mixes give you just the bands banter which is cool in its own way but here you get that added dynamic of fan interaction
Also the audience shows itself to be pretty knowledgeable
music wise. and there is just so much music here. I am thinking this would be like enough material for 4 shows in the 1980's
I am not sure how I keep finding shows from 1973 that I haven't enjoyed yet but here is another one.
And this is really a pot of gold here. I have no trouble putting this in the same league with 2/15/73. Yes, it is that tight!
Since as has already been pointed out the vocals are up in the mix
I do remember this Box of Rain for Phil and Donna singing.
And with Donna already warmed up she kicks butt on Loretta's tune
then bring the Jack Straw!
Everybody singing on Row Jimmy.
I put the headphones on at Here Comes Sunshine and quickly realized that this is an outstanding show
and you can bury me in 1973 no furthur questions asked.

The hyper-jazz Playing and China>Rider, groovy Dark Star and Here Comes Sunshine, and energetic Eyes are all wonderful, The Playing and Eyes especially being some of my recent favorites of the tour. This show just grows on me with each listen.
Therefore, despite the mix and sound issues, I'm still giving it a five based on the fact that it's extremely underrated, and the performances are just phenomenal. Check it out, you won't regret it!
Subject: A better seed, but the flaws are a killer
Too bad because, as others have noted, this was a great performance, and the Dark Star pushes new heights.
Subject: thanks Charlie!!!

"East Coast Magic."
"A must have show."
The GRATEFUL DEAD sound like they really enjoyed performing before this NY Crowd 36 years ago.
I highly recommend adding this show to your 1973 GRATEFUL DEAD collection, it is superb.
5 stars for the mix, recording, performance, and Charlie Miller...okay so there is a litte hum to the tape, BFD and the vocals get too hot and distort a little...but the performances are excllent.
Get both shows from the Utica Memorial Auditorium March 21 and 22, 1973.
Get it while you can, get it while it's free, get it now or you'll be sorry...
Eat, Drink, Be Merry and Listen to the GRATEFUL DEAD.
Thanks for the Love from 1973.
PS: I recommend clicking on Charlie Miller's name and collecting all his GRATEFUL DEAD shows, he has impeccable taste.

Some of the most beautiful playing I've ever heard from Bobby during Here Comes Sunshine.
Bob seems much louder in the mix during this song and is playing some great stuff.
Haven't listened to the rest of the show but based on this one song and looking at the setlist I would download this already.
