this recording is an example of the adage that "Dead aud tapes are often better heard from another room."
although the crowd is uncomfortably close for a few moments of this Spectrum show, the music is actually quite clear and in fact full-bodied and clearly defined.
remember that this is another sparkling moment in this AWESOME SPRING '77 tour. 'nuff said. try the transition into The Wheel ...
(i think that JimJody in Sep. 2004 was hearing another recording.)

is why we love aud's.
the energy is here, and for 77 the sound is too.
would make a great matrix (hint hint)

I think the negative comments about the SQ is due to the fact that the recording level is incredibly low. Just boost the sound level before burning (as anyone should check before burning any show) and the sound is pretty good, albeit a little distant. Still, no real hiss and definitely not one to avoid.

Tell me this isn't happening. The downloads are history? This is so not the spirit of the Dead that once was so much about sharing and letting it flow. It seems the old spirit is no more. A sad day indeed.

Agreed, it is a poor recording. Not only that, it is a very spotty performance. The first set grooves along nicely, but what happened backstage during set break, one wonders? The second set is full of blown lyrics and strange lapses. Most interesting is Must Have Been the Roses, where Jerry misses the cue to end the solo and sing the chorus. The band plays the chorus, and Jerry improvises a lead on the spot. Curious. The Dancin'>Mojo>Dancin' is fun, though.
