SAMSON and Delilah - A song of religious signifigance
Just listening to this on my regular speakers without headphones and that is working for me just fine.
"this guy down here just declared Nuclear War"
Bob Weir
What to make of the slower paced F.O.T.D.?
It really changes the character of the tune. However the build-up is pretty cool and gives a nice 'tragedy' feel to the song.
After F.O.T.D exited Second Set the only time I can think of it returning was as a 2nd set opener in Foxboro 7/2/89 -That was cool!
Sunrise . Terrapin -the former is a nice buildup to the latter
Playing in the Band-Wow good place for this tune and it is very well developed at over 27 minutes.
reminds me of those nicely jammed P.I.T.B circa 1973-74 (plus a little drums here as well)
Wharf Rat> Sugar magnolia
Good show, continues a nice strong run of show for January of 78
Sugar magnolia well jammed.
no encore Second night in a row.
I wonder if that was time constraints or just not feeling like adding anything else to what had already been done musically.
1/14 they seemed like they were done
but this night could have used
a nice Jerry ballad to close. IMHO

INSANE Music Never Stopped
This Music Never Stopped is completely insane. The jam just keeps endlessly building like I've never heard in any other version. The energy is completely of the charts...I wouldn't go as far as to say it's the best ever or anything but it definitely ranks, and should be heard by all.
Unfortunately the sound quality of this recording is quite below par, and the second set is aud-only. My rating is just for the MNS jam.

This mini era of the Dead is so smokin, Jan/Feb '78....Jerry's playing is so explosive yet ethereal, his tone so perfect.....this board sounds average but the playing is 6 stars.

I Like It
I got a chance to download Bertha and Dire Wolf from this site before all that bullshit went down. And I have to say, those are two of the best performances of those songs I've ever heard. The sound quality is not all that great, but good enough for me. I wish I could've downloaded the whole show, but those two songs are great.
