By far the best show I ever saw the Dead play. I've seen over 200. Phil was literally jumping around the stage and Jerry was a complete monster. Listen to the solo in Friend and hear the crowd roar. The He's Gone is tears dripping from the sky. A thundering show from the ridiculously rockin Alabama/Greatest to the best China/Rider and completely seamless 2nd set. Also, check out Jerry starting into Johnny B. Goode as Bobby goes into Good Lovin. In those days they just laughed at this stuff. Everyone has a best show, and this is mine. Every tune is a fantastic performance.

This was the first show the dead did after John Lennon was shot. The tears were flowing down on Jerry eyes during He's Gone, and after that it was time to Rock & Roll.

The Althea from the first set (and another source) is extremely good.
As for this source, the entire pre-drums segment of the second set is just scorching. The China>Rider features some meandering jams I've never heard before, but also packs the traditional wallop we all know and love.
Estimated soars; one of my all time favorite versions of a song that's uneven in performance. It has a great Jerry solo in the middle, and an exploratory jam after all the verses have been sung that winds slowly into a very nice He's Gone.
This is a good audience recording. Not the best I've ever heard, but it poses no obstacles to enjoying the music.

I was at the show, remember John Lennon RIP (He's Gone). I have ticket stub 00001! Stunning set, first aural hallucinations, wharf rat wails, transition from china/rider, hitchhiked this and both long beach shows no money, no problems. That plane crashed into the wall but they tore it down, not burned down. The swing was the first american venue for the stones. Janis and Jimi also played there. Where's the first set (please). Later y'all

feeling over heated; somewhere around I Know You Rider, I think ? Why ?, Yes I was in front and it of course, was general admission.
Another jammin' set at the Swing, for the last time, hence, later after I came too; and I was dancing up a storm and folks were saying, isn't that the guy who a passed out ? Almost as good as '77 and better than '78 since Jerry was sick that time. This the better half of this show.
Some months later, after ELP played there, I heard that a plane crashed into it and it burned down.
