Subject: Good AUD. Smokin' Show. So The 5th Was No Fluke !!!
Subject: Good AUD. Smokin' Show. So The 5th Was No Fluke !!!
I have always been a big big fan of the first few years of the '80s. Lots of energy. Tight. Good vocals. The whole can o' beans. December 5th is the ultimate statement of what I consider the wildest and most hard driving period of The Boyz' maturing career. It's no surprise this U. of I. show blazes. Hearing this for the first time, it makes perfect sense the insanity displayed in Indianapolis might show itself three nights prior here in Urbana.
This period is also about as far from 1974 as you could get (probably due to a whole new catagory of different stimulants. They must have all been doing ludes in '74.) What kills me is that I have nevereverever liked one single performance of any song Keith ever sang -- until tonight -- and I am shocked (oops, sorry, I meant Brent - and hey, not liked is different than hate). His "Good Times" is done exceptionally well. It will be the first time I will leave him in the lineup. This show is so good, having Stella > Round & Round before Good Lovin' doesn't even bother me. Pity the encore is missing. This show is just a half-step behind Indy (a little ragged and sloppy here and there.) But it's still a slam dunk.
The stream is a bit thin. Adding a lot of midrange and bass EQ helps tremendously... which is pretty rare for an AUD. Usually its just the opposite adjustment.
Highly recommended download.

If you read closely this dude's hate-injected review.. he detests Brent, not Keith.
He is referring to Brent, but mistakenly calls him Keith.
And golly, you think the last time you started a new job was rough.. imagine being Brent trying to step into the beloved Keith and Donna's shoes!? or Jimmy herring replacing Dickey Betts for the Allman Bros. I read in an interview that he was genuinely despised.
I once saw a show at the Kaiser in Oakland where the guy next to me on the front row rail wore a hand made shirt inscribed "DON'T NEED BRENT". He held it up over the rail so then band could see. What a fucking loser. That night the boys played He's Gone .. "same old rat in drain ditch'...

The energy from this show is so high. You can't miss this one. Even though it's not a soundboard, it's still worth downloading just because of the quality of the performance. Thank You for this Jonathan Aizen . Much Love
