Sideway Set Up
I see no mention that the band set up on the right side of the gym that night and played to the bleachers. That is what made this show so special, but you had to be there to know. The most intimate and small setting that I ever saw them.

Dregs of this tour were still pretty good
This and Hampton were the warmup shows for the real stuff to happen beginning two nights later. This was probably the shortest show of this tour and has possibly the least interesting first set other than 4-13. The second set doesn't start very well, either, although they played well enough to that point. Uncle John's is where the show really kicks off, and the entire rest of the show smokes. Even so, the rushed tempo means it all goes by very quickly; the good part of this is one tape side. Still it was great hearing my first Uncle John's, Wheel, China Doll, and Sugar Mag (it was only my 3rd show), all performed very well. Low 3 stars through Women, high 3 stars rest of show.

Nice warm sound here..Been listening to this show for years..Love how the Samson sets the pace to a well played show and it seemed like the boys where having fun..83-84 had distinct sounds from Brent and you hear it through out this show (Brent Bells) I return to listen to this show often because it's freaking pretty good..so please>GIVE IT A WHIRL>Forever Grateful>Forever Dead~!!!!!!! Superb 80s Performance
The previous night in Hampton was excellent. This show was a notch above. The drive to Morgantown from Hampton was quite the rainstorm event.
Great shows, great tour, great recording.

Excellent '83 show and nice sound quality. You may find you hear a little tape noise in the quieter moments if that bothers you. It don't bother me a bit. It's just part of the charm of bootlegs to me.

Found it!!!!!
I've been looking for this and almost gave up.This show was mentioned in the forward of Skeleton Key:A Dictionary for Deadheads as the 1st show of one of the authors, but there was a typo.It was 3-10-83 in the book, but there was no show played on 3-10.I've found it now,and it's everything that I've been told it was.My Dad was there I didn't make it,considering that I was 3 years old,but I think that I've found a Father's Day gift for this year! Thanx to the archive!!!

Yea, no doubt
Sampson & Delilah opener? that's sick. Iam a huge 83-84 fan and without Deadbase I can't think of any shows that Sampson opened up with. I know they did but its past rare. Its bloody in the middle. I know for a fact this is the only show in 84 that opened with Big Sampson. The rest of 1st set is not too out of the ordinary with the Western theme going on. As far as set 2, opening up with Touch into Women also rare may have done once or twice prior if that.(Wheres Dead Base when I need it)and on top of it again being 83-84 fan I can't think of any shows before and not too many after in this period of UJB>Playin> into Drums/Space>Wheel>Playin'>China Doll>Sugar Mag. Thats some sick stuff!!!
Alright I'll give you the US Blues Encore.
Iam not beating up the previous reviewer I just got a kick out of the one After that Predictable?
It was as predictable as Matilda in Deer Creek in 94'. just kidding having a little fun.
C~yall later now, taking a couple puffs and heading to Summer 85 to re-visit both Ohio shows and the Hershey PA show. If anyones still reading and wants a hot show to check out I listened to 9-11 (my birthday shared w Mickey) and 9-12-85 HJK. Killer-killer shows nice and tight well played, I really dug em'. Never had those on the XL2-S tapes. Love that 85'east coast Fall tour. My Gosh I love these guys, like someone's handle say's "can't get enough".
Perfect sound

Add this to the collection
The file quality is yummy. The set lists are standard for this time period. Highlights of the first set include a nice Rooster, luv the lethargic drummingI can picture Billy staring off into spacegreat stuff. Tenn Jed is nice, I found myself fixated on the fart-like sounds coming from Phils bass. The second set features a good Playin which floats off but does not quite make it to space. This show is worth adding to your collection. Enjoy!
