Augy is right the mix is poor until about three minutes into Greatest Story. After that it's pretty much stellar. This is a well played show.

One of my all time favorites!
This recording starts out weak but improves. This is one of my favorite shows, beside the previous day. Since I went off on that review I'll just say it is definitely a 5!

fort apache
my 3rd or 4th dead concert, there was a wooden barrier in the concert area like fort apache. i am superstitious that it was sunday the 11th, because of 911, but it may have been saturday the 10th. this is supported by mickey hart's birthday, which sounds familiar.
it was beautiful weather and a beautiful day, and the playlist is very reminiscent.

Morning Dew's a nice listen...
But the show itself is only 3 stars. Solid, but less than spectacular.

In response to Let it Grow..
This is a very good 83 show, although not nearly one of the year's best. Still def worth the listen if you are a fan of the period. In reference to the Let it Grow as being the best, or among the best ever...it's a pretty good version, and im not meaning to be anything other than playful...but are you guys nuts!!?
I request you listen to
5/17/74
6/18/74
6/28/74(spawns a 28 minute jam for jeepers sakes)
9/28/76
9/29/77
10/29/77
1/7/78
1/11/78
1/14/78
1/31/78
5/14/78
7/28/82
8/3/82
9/11/82
all i am saying is this LIG isn't even close to one of the best...strong, well played, but listen to those 78s and get back to me...
again, don't mistake my meaning, just having some fun.
Show 6/10
Sound 7.5/10
Overall 6.5/10

might as well...
The most memorable event of this smokin' show was the 300 plus human spinning circle that started in the middle of Might As Well. It totally stoked out the band, and sent them into half time with a great vibe that clearly paid off in that second set.
Great Crowd = Great Show

decent
but not top for the year. If you want to hear tops for 83...Look no further than
Sept.2 1983. This doesnt hold a candle to it...
Thank god the second set was better than the first, but still uninspired. The first set blew, end of story. Still nowhere near a top 83 show. lay the crack pipes down!
Also the sound goes in and out so much...not very good quality here sound wise either.

Sound not 5 of 5
The sound quality of this download is not 5 of 5 in my opinion. The mix seems bass heavy and the bass seems washed out and/or oversaturated. It sounds like an OK multigeneration cassette sounboard. Just my opinion.

Finally!
I've been long awaiting the arrival of this soundboard! It's a major upgrade from a cassette sbd I had for years: the cuts have been ably filled in with aud splices, and the recording quality is MUCH better.
The band really meant business at this show; Let It Grow and HOTW-Slipknot-Franklin's are in my opinion amongst the best versions ever played. Extremely electric! Well worth adding to your collection if you haven't already...

a highlight of the year
This is one of the best shows of the year. The 2nd set is hard to top. The Let It Grow gets my vote for all-time best version. This soundboard is excellent and a nice upgrade from the widely circulated high quality audience recording.

Fiesta At The Downs
What a killer weekend of shows. I woke up the morning of the 2nd shows to dozens of balloons taking off for a race to Albuquerque. Anyway, by the time West LA rolled around Phil was booming shots off the metal roof of the grand stand. The 2nd set was the best, and still is one of my alltime faves. Help->Slip->Franklin's, Let It Grow, Morning Dew & an extra long Wang Dang Doodle cuz Bobby's mic broke. Jerry almost Black Peters out from frustration, but picks up the riff and Bob starts to sing. What a great place for a show
