Audience?
It would be really cool to get access to nice earthy audience recording of this show. Boards can be so "removed". I remember this show having some intense energy, particularly the second set opener. They had these little balcony things that stuck out on the sides, near the stage (I think...it's been awhile). After UJB they kicked into this raging Samson and the lights came up and in the flash of arms and bodies I looked up from the floor and saw a friend of mine dancing like a lunatic all alone at the edge of one of those balconies. He was a nice quiet dude, became a chef in Boulder I think, and at that moment he was some crazed, funked out, flailing deadhead. It was perfect. It just contributed to this great rush, and is the lasting picture in my mind of this great show. If you have a high octane audience tape...post it!

Hult 84 top shelf Dead...
Back to NW corner to wrap up killer east coast tour. Last 3 dates and it was a monster at the mighty Hult. What a beatiful venue-hence("this place got mice" bob wier begining annoucment) I Always love a Dire Wolf & Duprees 1st set. Not big on Cassidy but pretty nice jam fully equipped with Brent's lingering bells and buzzers that He was messing with around this period (talk about seeing sound)yikes. UJB and Playin not out of ordinary but played well. Jerry does a sweet China Doll>Playin repreise nice stuff. I played my XL2S tapes of 5-8 Scarlet>Touch>Woman Terrapin>drums-(more of Brent's hypnotic tones)
utill the wheels fell off, always loved these dates and still do. Must of been a nice treat to walk in a venue like this to see the boys. Nice fancy bar, velour ropes, dressed up staff and nice staircases etc.
I picture a Fox Theater or Warfield something like that.
5*-sound
5*-playin all 3 night's

what station?
I had an A- tape of this jamming hard out my car windows at a red light in down town New Canaan, Ct. right around the time "In The Dark" came out; the dudes in the car out the window to my right were all like "what station what station!?" as they were thinking the "West LA Fade Away" source was k-rock or wnew. I was something like "No station , man - Eugene '84! " Then, just as Jerry's all like "It's a shame those boys can't be more SCOPE-Ah-cedic" ,the little red light on the street way turned green and I was off.
This whole run is very cool ! I am sure this recording is at least a couple gens better than that tape I have. Get it just to play that Dead Blues "West LA" real loud in your vehicle at stop lights. Jerry's Headlight stomping of Bobby the following night is a must have!!!
