Subject: pretty good
Subject: pretty good
the recording seems to muffled and echoy at first, but seems to get better by the early part of FLAS...or maybe I got used to it. good show. good stranger, excellent FOD, and as mentioned in the previous review, 1/2 Step>Franklins is tight.
Worth the DL if you are in to this era...

High scorer for 85. This one is a keeper esp if you like this era.
Hard to believe no one has reviewed this super audience recording yet. Definitely has a "you are there" feeling. Just a solid theatre recording.
You can tell right off that the band is feelin' good. A strong Stranger kicks things off and the Friend of the Devil (although not a tune I take note of that much) is really well played Jers' vox as a strong as one will find for this year. A sweet Birdsong played in this set as well. All in all a pretty short set but excellent energy.
If any length gripes for the first occurred for those who were there the band def. made up for it in the second set. Like the first set the second provides more quality live GD. Great energy 1/2 Step > Franks to get things going. The Crazy Fingers pre drums is nice and almost tear worthy - not for the melody but because how lost ole Jer gets in the lyrics, but in classic fashion he fully makes up for it with the beautiful outro CF Jam that morphs into a spectacular ad lib full band jam (supplication teases). A fantastic segment of drums follows. The energy continues out of drums, Halleluah! A nice Wheel into a gnarly Other One cause phil to blow a speaker with his full on bass attack. After that any full on bombs he pushed became hell for that spent speaker. The Warf Rat is a goody as well as the satisfying Brokedown to end the show.
If you like Aud's and this period, no question - grab this show. I have both the SBD and this AUD and I find I listen to this source over the other.
