This is the one I have been waiting for. I got a snippet of this Cryptical->Other One->Cryptical> wobble man years ago from a GDead Hour Broadcast, and all I knew was that it was Avalon '68. This is it! The most mind-bending, psychedelic music ever made. The audience makes stunned groans inbetween furious volleys of lightning. I'd bet God was paying attention. The Eleven smokes as well. Now this amazing music is here in crystal clean sound, revealing all of the blazing glory within.

Once again I am reminded of all of the energy I missed by never having seen the Dead on the East Coast. I am also reminded of what a really dynamic outfit this "band beyond description" really was. A show with that setlist could have lasted twice as long. On this night the Dead was all business. The recording does a tremendous job of capturing the energy of the crowd without stepping on the music. Lovely job all the way around. Thanks so much.

I was 15 years old and at the time this was the farthest I had ever traveled to see a GD concert (140 miles). This Oade recording captures the energy the best. Just give a listen to the whole thing, it's a hot, blazing, smoking show! The boys were definitley on this night! GD at their finest

One of only two shows I couldn't get in the door to see. Watching people inside just boogie'n, not being able to hear a note is a weird thing.
Of course when they started streaming out those who got in said it was "a killa show". Now listening to it I'd concur. The Dead in New York was the pinnacle of my touring days. New York audiences are very demanding and the Dead delivered, whereas one would think the better shows were in the bay area. Not to say the Dead didn't turn in many a great show there, but I digress.Great shows were played in this place, and the two nights featured in '85 are no exception. On paper Half Step>I know you rider is unusual, but the Dead were themselves that if nothing else. And it's not a smooth transition, but God bless the Dead for taking those kinds of chances. The crowd enthusiasticly welcomes Rider, which they had the notion to understand that this was unique, and the end of this song shows how much the crowd knew they'd been granted a treat. The next night I got in, and made up for having to watch a show from the outside!
