Subject: The 3 lasts of landover
If I recall correctly these shows were the last time for speakers in the halls in landover. It was the last time the dead rented the lot right beside the cap center,so we all camped onsite (great dinners at the rainbow teepee post show)And of course lets not forget the ripple at the saturday show. A great week of the dead!!

Subject: A swell accompaniment to last night's romp
Subject: A swell accompaniment to last night's romp
1st Set: The set gets off to a warm, alternatively restrained and full throttle version of "Jack." The sound's wavering a bit...Over four minutes of ??? "We're just as mystified as you are...Broken String, broken string." (Phil) Odd choice, "Desolation" as the second song. Crowd's cheering on 'Cinderella' (1:08) why? Jerry must be back in the game. It's a comforting, get back into the groove kinda thing which makes that fun opening 35 seconds of "West" so delightful. Undeniably competent, but lacks the electricity of last night. "BIDTL" slides right in and out of existance to assist us into an agreeable "Cumberland." A song about a workin miner on 'Workingsman Dead.' I hear 'synth' precursors of that gleeful carnivalesque in an otherwise standard "Stagger." Besides, it's tinny and cheap sounding. I love the4 monent in "Cassidy" where they head out to the unknown hoping to collectively gathewr at 'Graceland.' Kudos to Jim Ladd for perfectly seguing Dire Straitsian outro music right into Simon's set sailing southbound. Everyone's paying attention, but the decibal level's only at 7.5. "Deal" pleasantly caps off the set...Jerry just blast your way through Brent's tinkering. Thankfully, he does. Unfortunately, soon Jerry will be catching the MIDI bug.
2nd Set: But it's alright, as "Touch" so wisely states. Jerry muffs some words here and there, but it's fine. "Samson" ambles on with professional duty. "Ship" is convincingly depressing. I don't consider myself a fool nor do I want to be on the sinking ship. Whoever did not immediately call out "Estimated" to follow is a baffoon. Tis always a pleasure, but they're living off the exhileration of last night. After the braying, it settles into an appealing bluesy jam ending with the declaration that Lenny Hart is indeed, "Gone." Smokey and some keen doo-wop embellish this typical version. No jammy :( Off to "Drums." Quiet and breathy as is "Space." as if paddling my legs through a fauna filled fresh lake. Now there's a pirhana sneaking up "TOO" Bobby sang too soon...but it's the calm before the chorus which then thrusts us into a chase with our lives on the line. Escaping their pointy , indebted to a bottom-feeding destitute denizen by the name of August West. We stand in solidarity with the "Wharf Rat." Emerging from our mid-afternoon dip we hear the preservationists' stampeding with their claps that emerge as the band segues from verse to chorus in a well-mannered "Throwing." Wow, I haven't heard a crowd matching Bobby with the "On our Own." However, their "NFA" claps are a bit off-putting. Moving on to an earned "NFA" wave that Jerry rides effortlessly.
It all makes perfect sense with a sweet (MIDI-distracting) "Brokedown."

Well, thank to many poor decisions on my part that night, I went in drunk as a skunk. Stumbled down the lower level seats where it was just jammed pack. I was hammered, and I NEVER get that way before curtain. Anyway, Jackstraw kicks on we are all dancing and I now have to pee sooooo bad. No way to get to mens room in time so looked under the seat and went in a balloon to the dysmay of my girlfriend. But when you are in the thick og the dead, you do what you got to do.
Anyway, this concert was well played and the BIODTL was treat for me. There were som tech issues in the first few songs with Garcia's gitar. They got fixed and we were on our way.
Have not listened to the show yet but I will. Many AUDs from Cap Centre are ok if in correct place.
Sorry for the ramble.
