Good show, weakest of the three nights
But that still means very strong. First set is a little crowded between Vinnie & Bruce. They would figure out how to play more diplomatically (especially Piano Jock Hornsby, who totally overwhelms Vinnie much of the time). I'm not sure how much i like Jack Straw with Bruce vocals either. Sugaree has some great Phil/Jerry/Bobby build ups. Most of the 1st set is very warm up. Always dug when they broke out "Valley Road" those few times. It could have gotten bigger with more practice.
H>S>F is strong, but abbreviated. Nothing compared to the heights they would reach with it next year. Like others have said, too bad how Bralove synthed Vinnie keys to sound silly at times. He really was a talented player, who could have grown more naturally with the Dead if they didn't (understandably) have baggage attached with Mydland's passing. Saint is fun but sloppy at times. Eyes picks up in the ending jam, its a little sluggish at the beginning. Many better examples of great "Eyes" with Vinnie&Bruce.
Other 1 Space->Other 1-> Dew. Wow. Totally elevates the show to a higher level. Shows that the guys were still stoked to play, despite how hard of a year it must have been. Yes, Jerry spaces/omits the refrain, but its very interesting that they chose "Box of Rain" to close the second set. Only time? At least in the sometimes formulaic sets of the 80s-90s. I'm sure it was a crowd pleaser.
Again, the night before is one of the best shows of 1990. I Really dig the next nights 1st set more. If this was the mellow night of the three, then what a run this must have been.
Always 5 stars for Charlie Miller recording.
Show is a solid 4. Taking chances toward the end.

12/13/90
Great show in many respects. Setlist-wise, it is really great. Especially set II. The H>S>F is pretty strong, Saint is a little rocky as the band was still working on entering it back into the repertoire. Eyes is strong. O1>Dew is strong too, but Jerry really flails on the end of Dew, and totally omits the end refrain, which left the band kind of standing there a little confused until Phil breaks into Box to save the day. Good Thinking Phil. Good post Brent 1990 Dead, maybe some of the best..??..

Good show for 1990
This is one of the few 90's I really liked. Actually the whole McNichols run that year is good. The sound quality is also not too bad. I recommend this one for sure. Peace
