Loser better than 90?
A lot say the the Loser from The Knick in 90 was the best ever. I have to disagree. I was at all three of these shows and each night (for me) got better and better. I was about 5 rows back for this one right in front of Jerry. When he busted out of the solo in Loser he made a mighty thrash Pete Townsend style and just belted out "LAST FAIR DEAL IN THE COUNTRY...." with a big ol smile on his face. The whole show I never took my eyes off him and he was having a great time. This was the last show that I saw this out of him. Well actually the Jerry Band show in November of 93 in Syracuse was smoking hot. Jerry voice sounded like a little kid and he was again having a blast. Every show I went to from then on never had the energy of this one. A lot of people say the second set kinda lacks and that may be so. But for me, I thought this show smoked from start to finish. I am so thankful to have been sitting where I was for such a smoking performance from Jerry. I loved the 92 run at the Knick but for me 93 was my favorite. That's one reason why it was so hard for me to see old Jerry in the shape he was in for the Summer 95 shows here. I remember leaving the last night kinda knowing that this was more than likely the last time I would see Jerry. About a month later I found out that my feeling was sadly correct.
5 STARS!!!!!

Sleep Walking At The Knick
The band sounds like they are ready to fall asleep during the second set which goes steadily down hill. Box of Rain is one of my favorite songs but this version is down right awful. He's Gone is a rough ride as well and Bob sounds like he is singing Throwing Stones from his hotel room. The first set isn't bad but Albany 3/27 & 3/28 are much better downloads from this run. The show on the 29th was a clunker.

funny how things can change in just a short time. the omni looks like rain on the 20th is sooo much better. Bobby seems to totally struggle with this one.

The date is right
I found my ticketstub. This show was definitely at the Knick on 3/29/93. I loved the loser. 4 stars for a 93 show, 3 compared to earlier years. The run at Boston Garden was much better.

You Know Our Love Won't Fade Away.....
Some nice guy from Michigan who was part of the Wharf Rats traded me two in front of the stage tickets for my two in back of the stage tickets so he could have more seats with his friends. Name one other show where something like that could happen. You can't, because "there is nothing like a Grateful Dead show". That's not just a saying, it's fact. I almost went out of my mind with joy when they came out with "Here Come Sunshine", and I'll never forget how unified the crowd was for the chant leading out of NFA. This was the last show with Jerry I ever attended, and I definately left on a very high note.

The Knick
This is my all-time favorite Loser, the audience recording really does it justice. All together a great 1st set. I had a great time at this run - probably my favorite overall experience of 1993. Jerry sounded great and this tour really had some of his last consistently passionate guitar playing (on fast tunes as well as ballads). Thanks so much for posting this show, it brings back so many good memories for me....

Wonderfully played first set
This was one of those rare shows where the first set completely outshone the second. On this rainy night in Albany, I accompanied my younger brother to his first show and my first show at this intimate arena. The Stranger, Loser and sizzling Rooster are all highlights of an incredibly high energy first set. Though the second set rain theme is nice on paper, the playing doesn't ever approach the levels of the first set. The Throwing>NFA is a solid enough version of this overplayed duo, and the crowd NFA chant is another indication of the enthusiasm of the crowd at this run. Worth hearing for sure.

Last night at the Knick
They were Tight, all night, it had rained all weekend and the energy was there. The crowd was pumped! Good Times >Stranger were just some of the highlights as jonny closed the first set. Second set was great, Here comes sunshine its up there with the dean smith 3-24-93, looks like rain > Box, was intense. Check it out!
