This run at Nassau was very very good something about that old building..interesting take on the nontraditional type songs my fellow heads. It was victim or slime that I felt bummed to hear. I suffered thru a lot of these but I have memories of hearing a above avg Corina and a respectable pic moon & wave wind if you didn't already listen to the other shows at Nassau this run they're well worth checking out. Remember how hard it was to get a hotel room there? We used to stay at the courtesy motel what a fuckin trip that place was,

Quality Show After 1991, I'm splendidly surpirsed...
Jye,
Yes, she is there but Jerry is dead. I liked playing this show, mostly due to to date. 4-02-91. Not the april seen during 1977 but quite nice. It was one of their last stellar performances with the vision of the fat man there.

My first and only NY Dead show
This was my fifth Dead show and the only one I saw North of DC. Seats were OK was to the side of the stage. I'm not a fan of Corinna and heard it alot on this tour. I remember the Franklin intro and Terrapin. Not a big fan of Corrinna.

Had a great time with the boys and the soundboard is a fine tasty example that the boys still had it.Listen and remember that if you were there then it will sound better because of the experience. I'm cranking my system (thx)the scarlet is great and different which is awesome because you feel like you are moving in slow motion as you hit fire.Anyhow i agree thatthis show is worthy no matter what kind of fan you are.

Around and Around
I just wanted to point out that the version of Around and Around on this show is much longer than usual (or at least that I have otherwise heard). Even at the show, I dubbed it "the extended remix." Very fun!

FANTASTIC SHOW; VERY UNDERRATED
Very clean and TIGHT performance which, for me, is what seperates this show from many others. Garcia seemed to be displaying his "swan song", and was playing very well in those months in 93', Welnick and Weir also had a very good night.
Help>Slip>Frank more than makes up for its brevity with it's energetic, precise delivery.
That Picasso Moon, which is a song the Dead would fuck up all of the time, is the best I have EVER heard them play it, and Garcia's solo at the conclusion is just perfect.
The 2nd set is crackling with energy all the way through, especially the delivery of Terrapin. Another highlight I remember was Fire on The Mountain, and how nicely the rhythm section pushes beat 1. I find this show to be one of the most forgotten and underrated of all time.

4/2/93
H>S>F starts out the show on a bit of a rocky note in my opinion. Same Thing is fairly average. Jack-A-Roe is really where the band starts to take flight. It's short, but sweet. In fact the whole first set is pretty short, but from Jack A Roe on is very well executed. I would say the Scarlet>Fire is below average, post Scarlet, the tempo slows way down for Fire, which really lags throughout the remainder of the tune. Women is anemic. Terrapin is very solid. Corrina cuts of the end of Terrapin a little too soon, and isn't very stimulating.
I would happen to disagree with RollThemBones statement that the Dead f'd up EVERY Picasso Moon they played. There is really only about one song I can think of that fits that description, that being Wave to The Wind, but to each his own. It pretty much trainwrecked every time. Last Time>Black Peter are strong, Around is solid. Brokedown is good.
teetering between three and four stars. I'd say set I is 4, and set II is 3.....

Good stuff...but, could someone clear Jerry's throat, please?
I agree with rollthem....Solid and underrated. Jerry's feeling and souding relatively good.
I went to this show with someone named Fiona. Where is she today? We were blazed in the 2nd set and watched the lights on one of the giant PA heads spell out the message GO FU** YOUR MOTHER as Terrapin peaked. Section 103 had some good green giggles during that tune. I loved those fleeting solopscistic moments. You'd turn your head and it was over. Its your reality too?! Nice.
Oh, the show. Vinnie's presence isn't that bad. His keys are still a nice accompaniment, and don't have that clanky, callopie, plush toy singing Perry Como, primary colored 8 key toy piano sound they develop by the end of '93. The playing has that Nassau darkness and intensity. I can smell the patchouli, pot and beer as I listen.
A quality outing, for sure. Not the quality of Albany a fews days prior, but solid nonetheless. Well worth the DL. Check it out. 3.5. 4.5 is the Spring 93 Knick run. 5 is reserved for, well we all have our own.

Dad's first show
I took my 66-year-old father to this show, his first. The H>S>F opener is short (18 minutes) and dominated by Vince, who's very prominent in the mix throughout the show. The first set is pretty unremarkable overall.
Jerry finally starts dropping some licks during the Fire and the band begins to find its groove. Terrapin is strong, though the jam afterwards is truncated when Bobby goes quickly into Corrina, which is also pretty energetic for that song. Surprisingly energetic drums, but the rest of the show is fairly standard.

Even though more experienced heads will say that this show was so-so.....I will say this: Forget you guys, this show rocks (except for Corrina of course).
