Subject: "...H.S. in the 70's..."
gregweaver wishes he had "...gone to HS in the 70's..." !!! Well, so do I -( "Wish..." HE had, too !!!) Perhaps we would have met each other??? (At NY shows, anyway)?
Yes indeed... I was ENROLLED in HS, (on LI, - with a 40MIN. - DIRECT TRAIN RIDE INTO PENN STATION, (right UNDER 'MSG' - for those of you unfamiliar...), from 1977-78 THRU 1980-81!!! And, WITHOUT A DOUBT!!! - SAW SOME OF THE BEST CONCERTS EVER, between "Madison Square Garden", NYC, (of course...), and "Nassau Coliseum", Uniondale, NY. ...AND, NOT ONLY the GRATEFUL DEAD, ..., but other CLASSIC SHOWS like "Pink Floyd", "Jethro Tull", - a few times, "Yes", (in 'The Round'), and just about EVERY OTHER HEAD-LINING BAND relevant at the time! (Saw other relevant bands of the times at other Halls, like "The Clash" @ 'Roselands', and "The Pretenders" @ "The Palladium" . But I digress.....
Going to see a run of 'Grateful Dead' SHOWS.... (plural, as in... "...as many as possible") when the caravan settled into the NY market during the mid to late 70's WERE THE MOST MEMORABLE RUN'S I CAN RECALL, for MANY reason's. It wasn't JUST 'The Shows' that made this the period of time GREAT! It was also one of the last decades before 'Pagers', 'Cell Phones', and other 'Ball-n'-Chain' devises tracking your EVERY move and where-a-bouts!!!! The LAST GREAT YEARS BEFORE GIANTS STADIUM, AND OTHER MONOLITHS SOLD-OUT TO 80,000 + 'trend-setting' fans looking for a good reason to 'Tail-gate' and REQUIRE MORE SECURITY ! All in-all, - Some GREAT shows....(just looking for those better audiences of 18,000)...........

Subject: DAT MISTRACKING?
Subject: DAT MISTRACKING?
whole first set is DAT mistracked, giving it the dreaded SIZZLE sound.
ON FURTHER LISTENING (and to the other source):
Maybe it's NOT dat mistracking (but actually an effect from Healy?) as the sizzle appears on other sources too.

Had to listen to this just fot the TMNS>EA>TMNS....odd pairing....I don't listen to a lot of 90's stuff and what jumped out at me is how much TMNS doesn't work without Donna. I can't really say much for the rest of ths show...It's just kinda 1993, you know? Still, I wish I had been there, (my last show was in '91) but for sitting at my desk, there's many better shows to stream.

Just because they were at a particular show doesn't mean that it rates "x" stars. Those of us looking for decent downloads get thrown off by someone who gives a show 5 stars simply because they were there. This show is a prime example. It's a 3-star recording at best. The mic is far from the source, and audience noise is much louder than the music. I'm giving this 2 stars to balance out the totally irrelevant 5 stars someone gave it just because he/she was there!
