Well played. Could live without If the Shoe Fits, Easy Answers, and Way to Go Home. But when well played, they are bearable. Just tough when 3 in a single show. Truckin'>Jam>The Other One was solid. Always love a good Wharf Rat - - as they all were other than a summer of 1994 night in the Swamps of Jersey [but that night was a mess from start to finish!!! Only show out of over 100 that I left before it ended]. Anyway, just finished streaming this at work and must say it was one of the better Vince era shows even with 1/6 of the tunes being songs I generally do not enjoy. Wasn't there so no rating- -need a crowd vibe for me to rate a show. Just an old man's hang up :) But if I were just rating the playing.... a 3 or 4 star show.

I had only been to around 15 shows at the ripe age of 22 at this show.. I just know one thing.. I will never forget it. I snuck up to the
front row because my buddy had a front row center
and i just wanted to see if he was telling the truth!!. sure enough he was and i asked the ticket holder if i could say hello to him and he said sure.. just go back to your seat when the show starts..!! Ofcourse i tapped my buddy on the shoulder and the lights went down and I stayed the whole show..
then a dude with a camera gets in front of me during china/rider and asks if he could get infront
of me and he would send me the pics.. yeah right im thinking.. i gave him my address (rochester ny) and guess what? I got those front row pics
in the mail 3 mos. later. unbelievable. jerry looked haggard but he had a good show. Peace Love Rich - Rochester ny.

brought my sister(who is now a member of new jerseys finest)to this show which turned out to be her first and last. it was my attemopt to coonvert her from hip hop to real americaan music. plus she said she wanted to see the band efore jerry died. anywho this show was probably the least impressive of what turned out to be a veey good philly run. the Peggy-o was one chiller and was the highlight of first set. T china rider seemed to be rushed as well as the wharf-rat(both of which are two personal favorites. It waas nice to hear new speedway. Rumors had it that jerry was "under the weather" and obviously wasnt feelin it on this night.Sorry sis.

3 stars in the context of the band's history, 4 stars in the context of 1994.
After 100+ shows from 1988 onward, this was the last time I would see the boys in action. The highlight for me is the post-drums section, including a snake-y other one, and a nice outro jam on wharf rat featuring some stellar runs from the big man, and a short, but energetic good lovin. Not a lot of x-factor moments, but no serious flubs either. The previous night was the best of the spectrum run, and stands out more in my memory, as well as on tape.
edited to add: i think i went to school with the taper of this show, if it is indeed the mark lonski who went to phs and played lacrosse. he copied for me some of my first 'bootleg' cassettes, helping to lead me down the path to bolivian...hey mark

Subject: Great Memories
Subject: Great Memories
I was at this show and I have great memories that I still cherish fondly. After several years of trying to talk my brother into going to a Dead show to see what it was all about I finally got him to go to this one with me and he loved it. Its a shame it was so near the end of the road. As soon as we entered, Half Step was already playing and all the other late-comers were scurring around in the concourse trying to get to their seats. We were stopped dead in our tracks by a dude with a HUGH Homer Simpson headpiece/mask on his head dancing in the hall and bumping into the walls. This was an immediate "welcome to the show" for my brother because he is a big Simpsons fan. We laughed our asses off throughout the rest of Half Step.
The highlight for me was the New Speedway. The highlight for him was Truckin since it was the only song he knew. Speedway just came on the radio the other day, (believe it or not), and he said he remembered it!!!
Liberty was a nice encore. I always loved that song. I forgot they even did "Way To Go Home". Amazing how listening back to these shows can blow the cobwebs out of the deep dark caverns of my memory banks.

This is a sensational late period show. I'm used to the Spectrum sound as far as Audience recordings are concerned so we'll let that pass. It's actually pretty good. The Mississippi joins Boston '77 as my favourite. Not because of the guitar, which is tasty, but because of Garcia's vocal. I've never heard himn put such an R&B flavour on it before. It just sounds like he's right there which, as we know, in '94 couldn't be counted on.
The China>Rider is great fun. I heard a better New Speedway today from this year but the Truckin' rocks as does The Other One.
The Wharf Rat is one of those that just breaks your heart. His solo is superb. Why couldn't that guy stick around? Really I'm just listening on computer speakers and I'm floored by it.
Lemieux should really put out a DP of the best of this run. Maybe throw some of the MSG in too. It was the last great tour and this concert proves it.

The lack of a board of this show shouldn't discourage you from jumping in. Jerry continues to be on as he was the previous night. Shoe fits is awful, when casting stones on Garica's ablities in the later years, Phil really needs to be forced to listen to a few of these.
This is a great crowd tape, and an very good show in a very good tour.

Hot,hot minglewood + great half step (which incidentally I have never seen an instance where they opened with this and the show did not rule). Check out Jer on the 'cross the lazy river..' Smoking truckin jam + listen to the crowd sing china>rider... As far as the other one goes they are in no rush to get started and this has some very hot licks in it - until someone shows me better this is the best they played post '90 and yet another in a long line of incredible other ones at the spectrum since '72.
Hot Wharf rat++
5 for 94, 4.0 for sound quality. Better than the Omni or Silverbowl IMHO. I went to the Garden shows and thought they were uneventful - this is better.

Subject: MY FIRST SHOW!!!!
WHAT A NIGHT! This show changed my life. I had been listening to the dead and collecting tapes for three years and finally I was allowed to go.(I was only 16) It didn't take me long to realize that this was much more than a concert. I was literally floating into the spectrum being pushed by the crowd through the gates when the Half Step started. Jerry sings this one with more gusto than any other I have heard. What a great opening song for the beginning of my journey. I'm on my way!!!!! Ramble on rose is excellent as is the masterpiece with great backup singing from Jerry. Second set is solid and I have come to love the Liberty encore(although I didn't know what it was then) It is a perfect song for Philly with the Liberty bell and all. Thanks to whoever put this nice aud recording out. It blows away my old tape.

Here I go off on another Spectrum show.
People say you can't dance to "Easy Answers."
I respond by saying, "If you can't dance to Easy Answers, then you are broken." This was a great night to show a few of the people (from my spot in the tapers pit) how it could be done. Good fun.
The NSB => Truckin' is a gas of a time, and will show whether or not your playback system has real bass response.
The Liberty encore rocks.

Ok folks I know its late 1994, but this is a good one. Check out the Half Step opener, Jerry flubs the first line, and then comes out swinging, its one of the best 1/2 steps Ive heard hime sing. The rest of the show is very well played, and even the Liberty encore is very good. Worth the download! This source sounds great too!
