The battle for hearts and minds is being increasingly fought in cyberspace.
It is another battle that America cannot win.
No matter how much democracy or reconstruction America achieves in Iraq, the lasting memory will be the haunting images of abuse from Abu Ghraib amongst other pitiful sights.
The damage is done, the war cannot be won. Maybe winning the war was not the objective. Rather it was the establishment of a longterm US presence in the middle east, installing another slavish puppet government that has no control over it's population. Just like Afghanistan.
Sowing the seeds of perpetual misery for generations of innocents to come.
Would God really bless America? Would you?

This is one of many proofs that America can't win militarily in Iraq. These groups are well equipped, well trained, they know the terrain far better and are putting a lot more effort and patince in their attacks. Also, they have a well made intelligence service as a support. The mere fact that they can escape from this distance (sniper, cameraman and possibly a scout) after an attack is proof enough. America needs to rethink its strategy seriously because the battles of Stalingrad and Vietnam are happening again without question.

Subject: General comments, post RE's.
As a former US Army soldier, I found the content technically interesting.
It's a bit unpleasant to see someone become paralyzed or killed, but I take some solace in the fact that at this point very few people who are there did not have the opertunity (and obligation) to understand what the Cheney regime is up to before signing on. Unfortunatly some of this footage may represent the end of someone's life who had initially intended to defend the US population in general and defend what was at the time of their enlistment, a vastly different interpretation of our consititution than is the case today. Since very shortly after the 2000 elections it has been abundatly clear that the mission of our military forces are re-aligned to favor defending the interests of a tiny minority much more, and much more actively, than has been the case for some number of years. Furthermore, a significant fraction of this minority are not even Americans in the most widely understood meaning of the term.
It seems likely to me that footage exists in order for the shooters to collect a bounty. I have seen no compeling evidence to indicate who the shooters are, who's paying the presumed bounty, or who did the video production. I also see no reason why there would necessarily be more than a loose connection between these three groups, or that all of the shooters fall into a similar group for that matter. That is, the snipers could be any profesional exercising their vocation, and they may or may not have a particularly strong ideology related to their actions shown here. Their main need would be some basic support structure in-country if they are not native, but I sense that there are many groups operational in Iraq which could supply this basic foundation and would be willing to do so for a variety of reasons.
To the poster asking 'what if the Americans made the video', I would answer that it would imply that some foriegn occupation group with vast military superiority occupied our country. Further, that these occupiers were in many cases doing farily awful things to our population. In that case I can speak for myself in saying that I would welcome both such actions against the ocupying forces and the documentation of these actions.

Subject: The Jihadis Are Improving Their Production Values...
While it is unclear that there is a real, individual sniper named Juba out there, the person(s) that are making these shots are competant and understand how to make best use of their environment for maximum effectivness. This makes them quite dangerous to US forces in Iraq, as this video clearly depicts. This video has been extensivly studied and analyzed by US military snipers (of this, I can assure you), and it is possible that it has ultimatly resulted in more "Jubas" being killed than the number of American deaths we see recorded here.
The Iraqis have some good shooers (best guess is a mix of old Soviet-trained ex-Iraqi Army shooters, and perhaps a few Chechen Jihadis repaying an old debt), but it is proving expensive for them to target US forces directly.
Of particular interest is one sequence about midway through that appears to have been shot through the 4x scope mounted on a SVD (or "Dragunov") sniper rifle. Not sure how you could mount a camera to do that and so it may have been faked somehow, but it is interesting, nonetheless.
And, of particular note, the producers of this film use more sophisticated post production graphics, ect, than most such videos.
Five stars for its graphic, clear presentation of the Iraqi snipers-eye view of events, and fo the relativly high production values of its propaganda "spin".

Subject: sad.... very sad
I am shocked by this film. I am not an American, didn't support the war, but the gratuitous violence and the (seemingly) gloating nature of this video made me sad, If it were fiction it would be great to say Bush got something back for his cruelty and selfishness, but those are real people. I wonder what we would say if the Americans made a video like this.
AWFUL, ÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ cruelty and voyeurism at a new level, disgustingÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ

Even though AL Qaeda has good snipers as seen in this video I still believe in the US army and government because they are the best out there.
