Excellent show, excellent sound. There is only one problem...Spring Water (the final track) is cut at about 10 minutes into the song. Too bad.
Heads up to everyone. Its still definitely worth the download, but be aware of the mixup on the final track

This is one of my favorite KVHW shows of all time. I've heard quite a few versions of this show, and Dr Bob has captured the evening's performance in fine form. Although I am partial to the gankmore recording, I'm surprised he hasn't uploaded it. Also this show has my favorite renditions of High and Lonesome.
two thumbs up,

Subject: An amazing night at the Great American.
Subject: An amazing night at the Great American.
This was the second show of a two night run at the Great American if I remember correctly. The first night was good, but nothing really could have prepared us for what was to come on this night. There's nothing not to like about this show, the Cissy Strut is one of the peak KVHW renditions, and It's Up To You is beyond compare. There's a beautiful palindrome structure to it, and the first appearance of a "celtic jam" that would later become the basis of Mr. Potato Head.
A lot of amazing things happened in the Bay Area this month of April 1999, these shows, the Warfield Phil and Friends with Kimock, Trey, and Page, and the April 30th Petaluma show which would mark the begining of the end of the Ray White/Kimock era, but of all of my favorite moments from that month, the best was had at this show, spinning blissfully to the beautiful sections of the Hillibillies, maybe one row back from Steve and thinking that KVHW had arrived as one of the most important psychedelic/funk bands in history. This is Dr. Bob's stage recording. The use of the D5M cassette recorder for a preamp, the Naks and an impressive location: front and center -- provides a warm wonderful recording of an unforgettable night. If you're a fan of Kimock, this is one to get and keep.
