After almost loosing his life by trying to save someone from the ferocious storm, young Melmoth is about to be dragged by the sea and to die. However, a mysterious survivor saves him -just as young Melmoth saves him- from this point on, the story revolves around the Spaniard and his story. What would all this have to do with the portrait and young Melmoth 's family?
