It was obvious during the 10 minute instrumental JAZZ WANK intro that the band was gonna have fun tonight and so was their audience. Everybody full of smiles & energy. The Jazz Wank progressed into REBUBULA, providing more than 25 minutes of seemless opening funkedelica.
Keller Williams took the stage to join moe. in a fine rendition of DEAL. Keller making lip trumpet sounds where Jerry would have been stepping on his midi pedal. Nice touch.
I was surprised to hear Rob sing CAPT. AMERICA on 7/2 and not holding that one for the 4th. A short AKIMBO flowed out of CAPT. AMERICA.
Al reminded us of Grateful Dead days again with a mention of the '88 shows at Oxford Speedway before launching into a solid hour of uninterrupted play: DARKNESS> MOTH> BUSTER> TUBING THE RIVER STYX> THE PIT> MOTH.
Plenty of dry ice vapor during Buster was a welcome cool down from the 90 degree heat of the day, especially with Chuck, Rob & Al all wearing their 20th anniversary attire, Jim donnig a baseball cap. Al took to his keys on his Wurlitzer for Tubing & The Pit. STRANGER THAN FICTION was next into WIND IT UP, and Al once again played the Wurlitzer for the 3rd song we heard tonight from THE CONCH. With no set break and a very short break before the encore, Chuck was still full of energy, jumping up & down during the encore: HAZE and SHE SENDS ME. Another fabulous moe. performance and a keeper of a recording by Chris. You'd be crazy not to burn this one for the car!
