Description
Alley Cat is an action game consisting of several mini games tied together. You're a little black cat who wants to make love to a pretty lady cat that lives in an apartment complex. Play all kinds of cat-themed mini games in order to reach her and score as many points as you can while doing so.
You start out in an alley and need to get inside the apartment by climbing on garbage cans and a fence. Next, jump on a clothesline and through several open windows while big dogs try to eat you and people throw garbage at you. Outside of the apartment complex you can score points by eating the mice that run across the clotheslines. Once you've jumped through a window you enter a room where you play a randomly assigned mini game.
These mini games include: eating all the fish in a fish bowl, stealing milk from a bunch of bulldogs, pushing a birdcage from a table and eating the bird, catching mice inside a big cheese, pushing vases from a cabinet. To make things harder there's always a broom inside every room that tries to knock you around. You score points by completing the mini games within a certain time (the faster the better).
After you've completed a mini game you're back in the alley. Make your way back inside the apartment complex and you get a chance to play the love-cat game: try to reach the lady cat on the top row of hearts while rival male cats and cupid's arrows knock you down. After you've mated, the difficulty gets cranked up a notch.

I wanted to like it
This game would be incredibly charming and cute if not for the absolutely frustrating controls. The whole point of the game is platforming, and unfortunately the platforming controls just feel really, really bad. However, I would be interested in some kinda reboot that updates the controls and keeps the aesthetic of the original.

timeless fun
One of the best games from my childhood. I got many hard laughs from this one. It still plays in emulation just as I remember it.
Most things in the game will try to kill you or screw you over in a number of ways. Some of the entities will work together in order to kill you. For example the white garbage cat will kick you off a bin for the nasty dog to catch you.
The platforming is awkward to say the least. I like to think that it's intentionally so and it adds to the comedic factor.
It's highly recommended that you play this with friends starting from the kitten level and taking turns with the cat lives.

So much memories...
I've always loved this game, since I was like 4-5 years old on my father's IBM, back in the '80...
It's so amazing to be able to play it again! :D
My favourite room is absolutely the one with the bulldogs and the milk, the least favourite the fish bowl!
@jeremy1024: the action key is ALT ^^

A classic
One of the classic DOS-games I'm always transferring from my old computer to the new computer, using emulators. Thanks for making it available in the Internet Archive!

Fun Game When I was a Kid
This had some laughs. And a nod to Kliban's Cats with the "Love to eat them mousies" poem on the fence.
Anyone know what the action key is?
I remember being able to go threw the holes in the cheese and a few other things. Unfortunately I think it was the F1 key. Which here brings you to the Google Chrome Help dialog.

One of the 1st games I ever played and it was for hours.
Always seemed to work on what ever computer you were using. My 1st PC had 540K of ram and a 10 meggabyte hard drive.

Great game for the kids (or a quick go on a break)
Played this for countless hours as 10ish year old back in the 80s. Great game for kids as consists of different mini games but all are tied together well on the main screen. Good fun and challenging for kids. Better than most games aimed at them these days.
