A re-edition of the author's Dauid, virtutis exercitatissimæ probatum Deo spectaculum, 1597, with illustrations by Johann Theodor de Bry (cf. Landwehr)
Each of the 48 sections summarises an incident in the life of David; each is entitled at the head with the moral quality or lesson it is considered to illustrate with a citation from the Bible (mostly from 1 and 2 Samuel), and this is followed by 4 lines of Latin verse and an explicatio in Latin prose. Most sections are illustrated with an engraving preceding the 4 lines of verse, and contain additional verses by Mathias Bergius and others in or following the explicatio
Emblem 38 mistakenly printed with engraving for emblem 39; corrected by a pasteover
