The primary PMS operation site was in northern Egypt. Surveys were also conducted in Cyprus and Israel. The PMS involved scientists of the Smithsonian Institution, the United States Naval Medical Research Unit, and Yale University, and was funded by the Army Research Office, the Smithsonian Foreign Currency Program, and the Smithsonian Research Foundation. George E. Watson, Chairman, Department of Vertebrate Zoology, and Curator, Division of Birds, National Museum of Natural History, was Principal Investigator". Surveys were also conducted in Uganda. The laboratory forms are numbered Q-700 to Q-903, dated from March 6, 1968 to March 9, 1968. They provide the name of the bird species, the dates the birds were processed and collected, the locality, the sex, type of examination (dissection, plumage, soft parts), the presence of molting, the weight, fat, the way the bird was disposed of (skin, skelton, alcoholic, discarded), the preparator's name or initials, the presence of ectoparasites and type of examination, data on blood tests for the presence of viruses, and additional remarks. Not all parts of each form are filled: the names of preparators, for instance, do not appear. Many forms include the note "Arrived dead"
