Subject: Pleasing Politeness
Subject: Pleasing Politeness
1st: "Truckin" lacks verve but has some sly well-spoken Karan work. As does "Brown..." When he's on like this, I wish he was a tad more assertive with his presence. "Youngblood" is pretty good, but could be even sloshier... Bleech to whatever's next-not even interested in knwoing the title... "Hell" lacks the raucous fire of classic dead versions. "Lost" & "Saint" jives well with Ratdog's brand of dizzying assaultive cheese, tho the contrast tension & release could have been stronger.
2nd: "Uncle," fine, but lacks a distinctive hard-edged bite..."Candyman" oddly enjoyable despite its clunky delivery..."Bury"'s slow burning funk works well with Ratdog's style, tho again, I wish there was more fiery conviction. "Iko" is easy going, bouncy fun. I've always been a fan of "Even/October/Deep" trilogy. It's distinctive and always leads to daydreaming about some elsuive swaying feminine creature sauntering with a ??? dress... I digress...Nice 'OO' teases, will they go over the top? UH uh... just sort of stops and they go right into intro to "Wheel." Pleasing politness ensues... It's getting all percussive, light jungle; let the bible-thumping begin. "Samson"'s fine, taut but lacks personal passion. "Wharf" comes together nicely... there's little of Jerry's genuine sadness, but it's well-conceived. "NFA," again, there closers lack the 'go crazy' 'let it all hang out' vibe needed...It's too restrained. "Touch" bllleeeehhhh :) weak-jawed, but sufficient.
Decent, but won't ever 'shiver me timbers.'

nice show by ratdog and good sound. Love the way these guys jam - jazzy and tight. They generally have a nice different take on the songs from the way they were performed by GD. Only thing that bothers me sometimes is Bobby talking the lyrics rather than singing them. Always liked his voice - what's up with this Bob?

To bad Bobby's performing it. Hard to decide what sucks more Bobby doing Jerry or Phil.Never thought Candyman could sound so Candy-ass.DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE WHARF RAT AND WHEEL!!!!
