This has got to be one of the greatest ever Ratdog gigs.
Its up there with the Newcastle Opera House gig of 2002 and Manchester Life Cafe 2003 gig when Weir and pals played the UK
Even Donna Jean manages to sing which is something as she usually is more out of tune than that asswipe in Coldplay.
I now live in Dubai. Anyone wishing to correspond? andrewrichardward@yahoo.co.uk
Many thanks to the taper for this show. Superb sound and editing. A masterpiece in audience recording.

This show is smokin throughout. From the first funky notes that lead into Shakedown the music just builds terrifically, layering song after song upwards to the staggering climax of Dark Star>Stephen>Eleven. My legs were jello for three days afterwards.
The Ratdog songs were all excellent. The way the band pays together has reached a level of harmony and cohesion and understanding that makes each song an adventure. Two Djinn and Easy to Slip are both great here.
A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall is spectacular. I love this song and saying Bobby does it justice is an understatement. It builds dramatically with each verse. A must hear. Come Together is another song I love. Donna singing with Bobby was cool. She sang beautifully in my opinion. A slow, snaky groove during this classic tune let everyone build up enough strength for the finale, which was mind blowing. I have not danced like I did for the last three songs of the set in a long, long time.
Les Claypool played right before Ratdog. Members of Ratdog made up the backup band, The Rat Brigade, reminiscent of Vibes in years past. Bobby came out and they played Tomorrow Never Knows by the Beatles for the last song.
The truck that sucks all the crap out of the portajohns drove into the concert area and went to work cleaning up the crappers we were about 50 yards from. It smelled so horrible. I still have nightmares.

For the first time in fourteen years I had to sit back and literally be blown away and swept away at the same tme! With the addition of the masterful guitar of Kimmock this band sounds like a fine wine tastes when finally opened and allowed to breath after years of aging and proper handling. Easy to Slip is masterful, Hard Rain>sheer brilliance and finally the right guitar to compliment Two Djinn. As far as the dead material goes I have not quite thought of the words yet except for W O W ! I love MK but to see Bobby with a creative sparring partner once again rekindles old magic not heard since the early eighties. In a nutshell one great show in its entirety!

Probably one of the best setlists I've seen them play. It's good to be able to listen to them off of archives once again as well but I think I'll spend some coin on the soundboard recording. Ratdog came on right after Claypool and it was cool to see Les jam with Jay and Bob. Minglewood Blues is one of my personal favorites and they fuckin killed it, it's a must listen.

one week ago today, we were blissed out with bobby, kimock and company. after a monsoon on friday, this was the culminating show/event of the previous hours of music.
ratdog was mellow, restrained, tasteful, agile, open and clear. the audience was dancing (well, those who remained after 12 hours of tunes). it was the perfect capper to the vibes on a saturday night. they transformed bridgeport's p.t. barnum park (seaside park) iinto a blissed out psychedelic paradise (really).
donna sounded great with bob. it was a real treat to see them on stage together. kimock delivers the dreamy element in spades. it really starts during supplication.
awesome sounding recording.
