I think this is an absolutely brilliant recording. I had seen Kimock in New Orleans a few days previous. It was the night the war in Iraq started and that put a tone over the evening, for sure. It was a relief to spend the time with the band as they took you away from all that, but deep down, it was a somber and serious night.
They really pulled out the stops on Saturday in Fayetteville, however, and this lovely recording captures it all.

I agree that PC's C61 recordings are typically overthetop amazing but some how this particular run there is something not quite right about the work. For my money the C&A's mk4 recording is the best of the 3 sources currently available via the archive collection. .02 & YMMV.

We have come to expect only the finest Kimock recordings from PC, and this one does not disappoint. Kimock + C61s onstage.....does life get any sweeter?

This show was a complete and total meltdown. It's as good a set as SKB has ever played, especially that blistering second set. I managed to re-hear the set a week after seeing it, and I can still barely believe me ears. To me, this was the peak of a very special weekend. There are several songs that hadn't been dusted off in over a year. Hell, Chance in a Million had NEVER been played before in the SKB format, only in Zero and the SK/Pete Sears duet from the Black Orchid last year.
The source is Pat Cooper's legendary AKG c61s, which are amazing mics. I haven't yet heard this particular source, but I can already recommend it. I'd give it 10 stars if I could. Grab this one, grab the whole weekend while you're at it.
