Subject: When Seeing Was Believing
Subject: When Seeing Was Believing
ELT published this manual as a companion to his series of chromolithographs of selected astronomical objects, and it is a necessary reference to fully understand those images. Many modern critics condemn ELT's images as "fanciful" without taking into consideration the limitations of the medium (chromolithography) or the highly enlightening notes that can only be found in the Manual.
The ELT chromolithogrphs and Maunual stand out not only as rare and beautiful examples of the printing process, but as a surprisingly insightful record of the observations made by trained and gifted artist who had access to the two finest telescopes in the world at the time he lived.
Now both the chromolithograph images and full text are available online for study. Enjoy!
